Hi guys,

I'm currently working on some Bio-Titans for my 'nid army, and my Dominatrix/Hydraphant will probably be too big to fit on a regular 60 mm Titan round base.

Wondering "by the way, what is the maximum size for a base in Epic", I picked up my EA rulebook and found this on page 10, paragraph 1.1.2 :

"A stand may be no more than 40mm and no less than 5mm across in any direction."

This is rather surprising, considering Titan bases have a diameter of 60 mm... Did I miss something? And would a, say, 80 mm round base considered be too big for Epic?

Titan is a War Engine, so base matters not.

All AV and WE distances are measured from the hull, not the base.

Then, how do you manage to tell how many enemies are in CC? i mean, i thought that a titan had such a big base because to represent that it could crush a lot of people in close combat...

I use the GW 60mm bases for my titans (The raised ones, not the flat ones),  both for detirmining base-to-base status and also because you can make mini-dioramas of crushed cityscapes beneath the titan's feet.

It's perfectly permissable to make your own size base for a larger titan, using 'found objects', or even several GW bases cut up and glued together.

Yes, I love to do that too.  :)

And it's true that it makes it easier to measure distances and determine how many enemies are in CC.

Trouble is, I would need a 13 cm-wide circle for my Dominatrix... even larger than a CD!  :O  That's the kind of trouble you get into when you use a 40K Carnifex.  :D

But I think I've found a solution. I'll post pics as soon as I've finished it.

My dominatrix/Hydraphant sits on a base roughly the size of an A5 piece of paper!

My Heirophants are on bases just under half that.

For the bases I used plasticard cut to size.

Yeah, I thought of using plasticard (heck, I even bought some), but I was put off by the size of the base : it would have been almost impossible to place the Titan in woods or ruins.

Mine use tyranid physics, so they can walk on the points of scything talons.

Beacuse it is such a small contact point I havn't bothered to glue them onto the plasticard, which helps when they enter terrain, I can take them off the base and hope I don't need to worry about who is in base contact.

Would it be possible to base each leg or even a pair of legs on seperate bases?  Something like a single regiment base on each side of the titan or a 25mm base under each leg?

Then base contact could be determined by a staight edge placed between the 2 bases.  If your opponent is touching the straight edge, he's in base contact.

That'd be fine in my opinion.

My favourite method of basing Imperator Titans that I've seen involves something similar with two GW bases.
