Hi all. Reading the latest WD (UK) with the 40K Ork Clan article (long overdue), got me thinking about how the Ork Clans could be represented in Epic Armageddon. I dont want to introduce any new rules, and I guess that the easiest way to do this is to create a new formation for each of the clans, and then Ork players can select a force from the standard list or the formation for their clan. I think that this would add some character to Ork lists. What I had in mind is: Evil Sunz - A formation from the Speed Freak list which will be published soon. Bad Moonz - I struggle with this. On the one hand, I want more gunz, but Heavy Gunz may not be the answer. Maybe a new warband with a few Big Gunz thrown into the standard section and more available as extra units. Snakebites - The standard warband from the Feral List, with the addition of Boar Boyz and Junkatrukks as extra units. Blood Axes - The standard Warband with Boyz replaced by Kommandos (Chimeras?), and a few Imperial vehicles as extra units Goffs - The standard warband with Boyz replaced by Stormboyz Death Skulls - No idea! Something with Deth Coptas, maybe? Anyway, any thoughts or ideas? |

I like the idea. ?It sounds good to me for a start. ?The old SM1 Ork TO&Es, may be some help, as it is based on Clan, and limited what you could or could not have. ?That is the way our Orks are organized. ?Let me see if I can find the issue number. ? ![]() ![]() |

Most of that list looks good, although I think the Evil Sunz would be fine as just a plain kult of speed formation. One of the things the WD article mentions is that Evil Sunz Clanz are Orks armies that haven't become full Speed freaks yet. |

Hi! Hehe, no matter what epic version comes out everyone wants the "SM2 era" detail back in it. Just an observation...... ![]() Primarch |

Sure. But wouldnt this lead to a mix of the standard Ork force and the KoS list? In which case, allowing an Evil Sunz Ork player to take a few specialist KoS formations, but not restricting him to only those, might be characterful. I cant find my archived copy of the KoS list, so I will have to leave it at adding a basic warband from the KoS list and work that out later. Perhaps the Bad Moonz should have a standard warband, but with half the Boyz stands as Heavy Gunz. So: Bad Moonz (higher cost per formation) Core: 2 Nobz, 3 Boyz, 3 Big Gunz, 2 Gretchin Extra (reduced cost): Nobz, Gunwagonz, Oddboyz Extra (as standard list): Boyz, Buggies, Warbikes, Skorchas, Big Gunz, Killa Kanz Battlewagonz, Deth Coptas, Dreadnoughts, Flakwagons Stompas, Battlefortress, Gunfortress Snakebitz (lower cost per formation) A warband from the Feral Ork list, except that three core Boyz units are replaced with Wild Boyz units and with the addition of Boar Boyz and Junktrukks as Extra Units. Blood Axes (slightly higher formation cost) Core: 2 Nobz, 6 Kommandos, 2 Gretchin Extra (reduced cost): Kommandos Extra (as standard list): Boyz, Warbikes, Skorchas, Big Gunz, Killa Kans, Battlewagonz, Deth Coptas, Dreadnoughts, Flakwagonz, Gunwagonz, Nobz, Oddboyz, Stompas, Battlefortress, Gunfortress Also as Extra: Chimera transport, Leman Russ Goffs (slightly higher formation cost) Core: 2 Nobz, 6 Kommandos, 2 Gretchin Extra (reduced cost): Stormboyz, Nobz Extra (as standard warband): Boyz, Skorchas, Killa Kanz, Battlewagonz, Dreadnoughts, Flakwagonz, Gunwagonz, Oddboyz, Stompas Death Skulz Perhaps something with Oddboyz instead of Nobz, but I still have no idea! OK. Any comments? Actually, the more that I think about this, the more I like the idea of just using the original warband to tailor your own clanz! |

I've been working on the idea of using Burna Boyz with my Orks (or just for Blood Axe Kommandos when they make an appearance). Probably as...every warband can buy any number of Burna Boyz for +25 points each (similar to Kommandos then). I havn't thought about stats yet, but obviously they would be better in firefight than cc, no long range fire, and possibly ignore cover on assaults. They're easy to convert; Stormboy with spiky bits on backpack removed, possibly lengthen gun barrel or add a green stuff flame to end of barrel. |

What do you prefer the forgeworld or GW, basilisk? I'm quite undecided on this one, there just seems to be something not quite right about the new GW one. How doe the FW basilisk compare witht the E40k basilisk for scale? The same for the Manitcore. I just really don't like the Fw one for some reason it just looks a bit chunky. |

The FW Basilisks that I got were incredibly fragile. There was so much excess moulding on them that it was a real pain to clean them up without damaging the thinner parts. When I start my IG army (its inevitable!), I am probably going to get both Basilisks and Manticores from GW, although I quite like the FW manticore too. ![]() |

Hi! Is there really a difference between one being metal and the other resin? Primarch |

The metal ones are. of course, more gameworthy and ham-handed gamer resistent. The FW ones have some detail that the metal ones do not... Overall, I prefer the metal which is sturdier for those occasional accidental drops... ![]() Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. P.S. For a diorama, I like the FW ones better. They can get some superb detailing with resin. |
