I was never really happy about the e40k manticore (re-used for E:A); the FW version is nice but I still have a soft spot for the old SM-era version. As for Basilisks I can only agree with all that have been said: The GW version is more gameworthy but the FW one is definitely better looking.
For scale purposes the FW basilisk looks a bit smaller; the tracks are thinner as is the barrel but when you line the e40k basilisk up next to it it is really all the stowage and ekstra armour plating that makes it seem bigger.
Cheers!

I never cut the flash out between the F/W Basilisk, Medusa, etc. railing. ?I look at it as armor plating ... dead crews can't fire ... ?Plus it makes them less fragile for gaming purposes. ?In retrospect the F/W Epic is generally redundant and too fragile. I made a poor choice in starting to collect them ... oh well ... ? ?

Hi!
I wonder if the quality of FW is going down lately since my experience with FW stuff is quite good and they are pretty robust.
Are they putting out crappier stuff lately?

No, I don't think so. I have at least one pack of everything Epic that F/W makes and the quality is generally very good ... but many of the smaller barrels are too flimsy ... and the Falcon and Nightspinner are an accident waiting to happen. At least the G/W metals are pretty solid and resilient, IMO.

On looks alone, I much prefer the FW variants of both the Manticore and Basilisk. I really dont like the enclosed crew compartment Basilisk, and the 'missile rack' Manticore has never been a favourite. If I get any, they will be FW.

thanks for the opinions guys. After much diliberation i've decided to get both. well a pack of FW basilisk to complete an all basilisk art company in the old style and buy the new art comp and split it into batteries as I don't like the FW manticore.

For you UK guys, have any of you received your issue #7 yet?
I was wondering if you could tell me the stats for the Tarantula that they used in the Epic article.
Thanks

dafrca | I do. The Tarantulas are immobile, 6+ armour, no CC value, Firefight 6+ and can be armed with a Twin Heavy Bolter (30cm AP4+) or a Twin Lascannon (45cm AT4+).

I should also mention it is an Armoured Vehicle.
I think they have them armed as such to match the Forgeworld 40k ones, and so you can use the Razorback guns to make Tarantulas.

Could you post the stat line as it shows up in the magazine? That is strange.
