I'm curious. What do you like and what you don't like in the Epic Armageddon? I've just started to read the released version so I'll suspend my answer until I've finished it. P.S. mini prices are NOT considered to be part of the game... ![]() |

I like the speed of gameplay- less of the cross-referencing to tables ala 40k can only be good imo... ![]() The rules are really easy to pick up too... after three simple games at the weekend I've got a much better understanding of how it all works than I did when I started playing 40k.... |

Have not got the rule book, and won't till summer, however much of it looks very good from the previous downloads. I just read the Tau rules download and they look good too. But at first read, they appear quite detailed. I started with SM1, so I know detail !!! ![]() ![]() |

The only complaints I have are minor rules quibbles. Overall, I think it's the best epic game I've played. I also think the new mini sculpts are looking really good. |

The game is cool, but to be honest I would have prefered a box set. As much as people gripe about Epic 40k, that was an excellent box set, so I could only imagine if GW had gotten their act together, they could have done an even better one this time. I mean, look back at all the excellent plastics that came in that set. Much better than when we are getting now. Hell, if they just replaced the Epic 40k rulebooks and kept the minis, dice, etc etc I would have thought that would have been fine too. I have yet to get into Warmaster cause I just hate games not having a main box set. Weird I know cause I know a lot of people like it. But I see myself as much as a collector as a gamer, and without a main box set to store all the magazines, and other material I don't even like to bother. I don't believe we get all of our excitement from just playing, cause I think we put much more time into reading and building our armies than we do playing it. Sometimes I just love opening a box set and just going through it all like I am reading a book. Weird I know. Maybe if Epic A is successful, GW will pick up support for it. I mean, what else is on the horizon after LOTR? We have skirmish games like Mordheim and Necromunda, mass combat games like Epic and Warmaster, BFG, Inquisitor, 40k, and Warhammer. I hate to say this, but I can't help but wonder if Fanatic keeps GW from going back and making a completely new Necromunda game from scratch or something. Not that there is anything wrong with Necromunda, but it isn't a mainstream game. What else is there for GW to do? Everything I think you can do is covered. . . ANYWAY. . . I love how armies in EpicA are selected, and the whole upgrade system. I would have liked to have seen a little more flexibility, but this is good. I never got the split-fire thing I am so well known for, but that is really the only thing that bothers me. I know for the rest of your lives when you hear split fire, you'll think of me. I don't like free Rhinos either. I don't like metal ones either. Too expensive $$ wise and they don't do much. I am glad we have characters too. I don't have much interest in the Orks though. I liked it when they were a colorful mob with lots of personality. Right now they just don't have that to me, and it does kill my interest in the game a little bit. Maybe it is just the way they are presented, I don't know. The Gunwagonz are a disappointment. I am also glad I talked Jervis into two support formations for the Steel Legion! I like the IG much better that way. I also would have prefered a new location other then Armageddon. Other than that, it is definately one of the better GW games out right now, and I think word will spread that it is. |

I think these are some very good rules. They are simple in concept but have a a lot to offer an experienced gamer. Varity in tactics and units without a variety of extra rules and stuff. The best part is the flow of the game. Formations advanced, may have get their buts kicked, recover, charge in for another show. This ebb an flow really gives a goof feel for the game that is very different from 40K. There you go. Take Care |

Hi! For the record I think Mojarn is a very bad boy to ask such questions since he knows I'll jump on it. I have the book, I read through it, liked the pretty pictures, it has several ideas I like (and may adapt for heresy or net epic) and it has gone to my bookshelf. Primarch |

I have read through it a couple of times, and I like it alot. As a matter of fact, as soon as we can get together, my group is probably going to playtest it. I especially like the differences in army organization, it is a major improvment over the Epic40k 'cookie cutter' army designs. And since I kept my E40k detachments on cards, the Epic:A system falls in place naturally. As far as dislikes are concerned, I don't like the war engine criticals, and will probably use the Epic40k tables. I don't like the fact that you can only field a formation of 5 bikes for the SM. Thats all I can think of at the moment. my cents 2, iblisdrax |

I really like almost everything about this new system, (except that I have to order overseas for everything).. I kinda agree with iblisdrax about the criticals... however it was bit of a pain having to remember the results in the old edition, especially because I have always used lots of SHT's in games. I think I will have to play a lot more games before I discover things that annoy me... |
