Hello I'm a new Epic player.

I've read the rules and played some games (but the rules varied depending with whom I played ;) ) so I would like clarification on some points. (I already found answer to one of my questions on the forums :) [Necron Lord in Immortals])

So first topic will be assault as this seems most problematic to me.

So do I roll both FF and CC together then allocate hits together, or do I split this into two separate fights (FF in one formation vs FF in second formation and the same thing with CC)

Basically can a FF attack hit something in base contact?
Can CC attack hit something that is not in base contact? Bonus question: How does sniper on Lictor work (CC attack).

What happens if a unit in base contact kills something with normal attack but has MW attack.

What happens if a unit kills someone with CC first strike attack (EA) and still has other attacks (does it use CC or FF)

FF can hit stuff in BtB. All the hits just go into a pool, which the opponent allocates closest to furthest.

Sniper hits are allocated by the attacker, and may only go on units within line of site and range or the attackers. So that would mean anything within 15cm of the Lictors. That might put some people off but the assault occurs over a stretch of time where units are moving about, they aren't frozen where you placed them.

MW attacks are rolled at the same time as normal attacks (so you can't lose a MW attack as you describe) but are allocated after all normal hits are saved. Your opponent starts again (closest to furthest) and doesn't pick up where the normals left off.

The only instance where a unit might lose a CC attack is if the enemy it was in BtB with was killed by a first strike hit. In that case, the unit would roll its FF instead.

Note, WEs each have their own separated CC and FF hit pools, you don't group them together in any way. That means that a WE's CC attacks can only go on units in BtB and its FF attacks can only go on units within 15cm and LoS.

I used to play DBA, no rule is able to put me off ;)

Just a quick follow up. Let's say that a glorious last stand of few units of IG completely surrounded by orks results in only one hit. Surely the hit is allocated to a unit in CC being closest. But is there any rule about how to pick the closest unit?
Or lets say that two parallel lines of units are engaged in CC. Hard to pick the lucky unit.

All models in base contact are equally close, which means the owner gets to choose which of their units the hit gets applied to.

It comes from the fact that the defender allocates hits. As you say, they're all equally close so the defender picks.

Good catch, it’s the formation-owning player doing the allocation!
