I have a question about the legality of stacking upgrades on units - Can you apply multiple upgrades to the same unit? For example, could I upgrade a LatD Cult Demagogue AND add an Icon Bearer to that stand? Alternatively, could I upgrade a Minervan Baneblade to carry my Supreme Commander AND assign a Commissar to that model as well? Are those two situations different for any reason, and is there anything I’m overlooking that’s stopping me from doing either? I understand you can’t do things like add 4 Havoc units to a Black Legion CSM formation and then attach the Chaos Lord/Sorceror that comes default as part of that formation to one of the upgrade/attachment Havoc stands, for example. Is this any different? Thanks guys! |

You mean characters, not upgrades. Yes, unless the army list says otherwise. Yes. Yes. The only thing worthy of note is that special abilities do not stack when they're on the same unit. For your SC and Commissar example, that would mean you would only have 1 Leader in the formation (as opposed to 2 if you put them in separate units). On the Havoc/Lord thing, that is only true because of the army list: "Eight Chaos Space Marines, one with a Chaos Lord or Sorcerer Lord character". The Necron list is worded differently and the lord can go anywhere: "Six Necron Warriors and one Necron Lord character" |
