Depends what list you are planning to use. Click on my signature to see the latest list threads. Assuming you are planning to play the approved Necron tournament list, it can be found here:
http://www.tp.net-armageddon.org/

3000 points is the tournament senarios standard.

The major mechanics common to most lists are portals and living metal. Portals let you move your troops around the board or from reserves to the board. Infantry are the main power of the lost so a good mix of portals and infantry formations are critical.

Living metal makes your units some of the most resilient in the game.

Yes, i m planning to play them at a tournament within a few months, so i m using the approved lists. Do you have a few examples for 3000p armylists?

There is currently only one approved list for NetEA. Suggest you look at the battle report section of the forum for list examples. Just find a thread listing necrons and it'll have the army list break down.

Thank you guys. How good are the destroyers working? Thinking about focussing a bit on those.

portals. portal enage portal shenanigans

it's actually fairly boring for the GT scenario once you figure out their shtick. In this regards the newCrons list is far more entertaining though not to approved yet (but if you were to help test an push it over the goal line then...)

I try my very best. Need to understand the dynamic first. First idea was to use many destroyers to use their high mobility.

Destroyers are situationally good but don't have a great cost:effectiveness ratio compared to other formations. Yes theh have good speed but 350 points for 6 units is quite pricy. They don't get a size upgrade or any specialist upgrades like pariah. With portals your regular infantry can hop across the board with ease. To do a destroyer heavy list your activation count will be quite low. You want to maintain at least 10 activations.

I used this list in a couple of epic UK tournaments. Middle of the road performances.

3x infantry phalanx + pariahs
(3x 6 infantry + Lord + pariahs)
3x monolith manifolds + monoliths (3x 3 monoliths)
1x destroyer maniple
(6x heavy destroyers)
1x flayed one maniple
(6x flayed ones)
2x pylons
1x warbarque + Lord + overlord
1x Tomb complex
