I have been looking through the current Dark Eldar rules, and the current tournament rule book looking at shields, IC weapons, etc. I know Ignores Cover weapons ignore the -1 modifier to hit for shooting at a unit with active shadowfields, but do they take the shield down and that is it, or do they ignore the shield completely and only damage the units armour/ DC?

It is a little unclear to me. I have always played it that they take the shield down, even though they ignore the -1 to hit, and only hit the units armour once the shields are gone. Am I doing it correctly?

It seems illogical otherwise. I know their are weapons that warp out of reality and appear beneath the protective cover of the shield, and they have special rules to state this, but standard IC weapons are not so easy to determine how they work against shadowfield protected units like the Tormentor or Vessels of Pain.

The only thing special about an IC attack is that the -1 to hit is ignored and otherwise works the same as any other attack. No need to sweat it, Deb. Hope that helps you out.
