Post subject:  Aircraft coherency

Hi

1) Do aircraft in a formation have to stay in coherency (i.e. 5cm for non WE), is it:
a) always;
b) only as they enter the table and at the end of their approach move (but no requirement during the move);
c) only as they enter the table; or
d) nothing in the rules so no coherency required?

2) Can the aircraft in a formation face different directions at the end of the approach move?
If so they will probably end up moving out of coherency during the disengage move.

3) How many BMs do the aircraft get if they leave a board edge that is not the owning players edge, is it:
a) one BM per aircraft leaving an edge that is not the owning players edge; or
b) one BM if any aircraft in the formation leaves by an edge that is not the owning players edge?

Thanks

while vague, 4.1.1 does stipulate that aircraft are grouped into formations like any other formation, so according to that, they must maintain 5cm coherency at all times as per 1.2.1

yes this can potentially happen, and yes they will move out of coherency unless the different facings are very slight, AFAIK EpicUK like to discourage this sort of thing
