1. rallying in the end phase you rally broken formations. it states a -1 if enemy formations within 30cm. i have always played it that it had to be unbroken enemy, but it doesnt state that anywhere. also you rally starting with the player with highest strategy rating? what does this really imply?? if a broken marine and ork formations are 30cm apart, the marine rallies first. if successfully does this mean the ork gets the -1 ("unbroken??" enemy within 30cm) or do they both count it in any case? 2. critical hits am i correct that critical hits are worked out in the end phase? if a Landa/Thunderhawk flies on table is hit and suffers a critical, do you wait till the end phase for it to explode? meaning that it delivers its passengers/ground attacks safely? all the best ps anything happening on updating the army compendium cheers |

It doesn't matter if the enemy is broken, just within 30cm is all that counts. Critical hits take effect immediately unless it states "In the end phase" or something to that effect in their notes. Reavers, Warlords and Gargants are examples of that. Compendium, no. Looks to the Tournament Pack (my sig) for the latest version of approved lists and forum threads for the latest version of a dev/exp list. |

It is any enemy formation. Broken or not broken count for the -1 penalty, for me it helps represents how your troops would not know how effective the enemy may be as they are not in the same god like position over the table that a player is. Higher strategy rating player gets to attempt to rally one of their formations first (players alternate their attempts to rally formations). It could mean a formation failing a rally attempt could withdraw and affect an opponents rallying attempt or to block paths to objectives in the following turn. Quote: if a broken marine and ork formations are 30cm apart, the marine rallies first. if successfully does this mean the ork gets the -1 ("unbroken??" enemy within 30cm) or do they both count it in any case? Both would get the -1 because as you have stated the rule is "any enemy witin 30cm" not "any unbroken enemy within 30cm ". Quote: 2. critical hits am i correct that critical hits are worked out in the end phase? No, some criticals are rolled for at the begining of the end phase but you have to take into account what the individual War Engine datasheets state. from 3.2.3 critcal hits Quote: The effect of a critical hit is listed on the war engine’s datasheet and will vary from one type of war engine to another. Quote: if a Landa/Thunderhawk flies on table is hit and suffers a critical, do you wait till the end phase for it to explode? meaning that it delivers its passengers/ground attacks safely? No, the critcal for both states the pilot loses control and crashes to the ground killing all on board. |

I find many (maybe most) my opponents play that whoever moved first must rally first. I thought it was actually higher strategy chooses. it's not normally a big deal anyway as long as consistent. P.s I guess critical on flyers are not necessarily a "crash" if already landed. Perhaps more of an ammo explosion or something. Result's the same though |
