What type of Epic unit that (probably?) didn't get into EpicA do you most miss? I know some of you play NetEpic so this won't be a problem, but for the Armageddon players? It doesn't have to be stuff that went MIA during the last transfer either, my choice (see below) didn't even make it into Epic40K! For me, it's the Superheavy Stormhammer tank. I never figured out why this one disappeared. It still had its own niche - Stormhammer - close range anti-infantry - Baneblade - mid range all rounder - Shadowsword - long range anti-armour/titan - Stormblade - short range anti-armour/titan. It wasn't the right scale to be superceded by developments in Warhammer 40K and it fitted the background nicely. I never got around to getting some when they were originally on sale, I'm just happy to have picked some up 2nd hand, painted (almost definitely ![]() Jackhammer |

Stormhammers are basically what got me into Epic. It was (really) old battle report IG vs Eldar. The Guard player was marching forward over the crest of a hill, while the eldar were making pop-up shots and probing attacks from amongst all the buildings on the other side of the board. The Stormhammers sat on the crest of the hill, taking loads of hits from a variety of things, dominating the battlefield (although not killing much) and slowly being crippled. Great game ![]() |

I had a similar thing happen to me...in the open they didnt do much and got massacred by long range fire. ?Next game I got them into some ruins...talk about a prime unit for cleaning urban areas of unwanted enemy infantry! I'm sure they are in the back there in the "OOP Models" list with the stats.... |

Hi! I remember that battle report the Eldar were crushed! I still have my legions of stormhammers, they are excellent for city battles and in close terrain. My favorite was the stormblade, which also got dropped, I loved those helion missiles, its the only tank that can take on a titan and have a chance to down the shields then destory it. Primarch |

The Stormblade has disappeared? I'm surprised as it's still a Forgeworld model. Weird ![]() http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalo....17.html Well at least I've already got a company of them ![]() |

Hi! Its disappeared in its original form as a titan hunter. The current form has no rack of missiles, just the plasma bastgun. The missiles make a world of difference. ![]() Primarch |

Well you can still get the Stormhammer & Stormblade from G/W US MO. And regardless of the G/W E-A party line, we Do Not let their rules, dictate what models are used on the board ! ![]() ![]() |

Free will is a good thing! That's what I've been told so it must be true ![]() I've got the old Stormblades packing the Hellion missiles. Maybe they disappeared as if the Stormblade can have a external rack of them, why not other Imperial vehicles? Jackhammer |

Hi! That's an interesting point. There was an indea for netepic of giving equipment packs to tailor vehicles, the helion rack would make a good "optional" weapon system. Primarch |

You can do what you want on your gaming board as long as you and your gaming crew all agree. We made a simple decision for all vehicles, all Baneblades and Stormhammers are the same. Shadowswords, Stormblades, Stormswords are all the same. Leman Russes are all the same. Demolishers, Conquerors, Executioners are the same. All Chimeras and Gorgans 2s & 3s are all the same. We have played every version of vehicle being different, and it was fun, however is started to bog down. We've been collecting since SM1 in '90 and with each Epic release and now F/W, it just becomes too much of a moras with too many vehicle types for each army on the board. We do the same for all armys. An Ork Battlewagon is an Ork Battlewagon. A Predator is a Predator. Etc., etc., etc. ... But bottom line ... do what works for you ... not what works for me ... ![]() |

..Regarding the Stormblade, there is an interesting little snippet of fluff in the new Imperial Armour book that says something along the lines of; "some older Stormblades carried racks of Hellion missiles, but they have now been phased out due to a number of catastrophic losses caused by enemy fire damaging the missiles and detonating them..." ..interesting.... ![]() |
