Hi
Rules say you can fire overwatch an enemy transport that moves and dismounts troops. You can fire either before or after they dismount. Question is can you overwatch fire on a transport aircraft as it lands but before troops dismount?
Thanks

Nope, landing doesn't trigger overwatch. Only moves and disembarking does.

So I just have to wait until they disembark, but then I can shoot at the aircraft, right??

Example:
IG Tank Hunters on Overwatch being air-assaulted by Thunderhawk. Once they disembark I can fire OW fire against the TH, in order to try and make some damage before being utterly destroyed...

Yes, as per the WE rules they are the same formation when landing and shooting/assaulting, and you can always declare your shots to go on WEs (or not).

So a follow up question. If an aircraft is broken but on the winning side of combat against a fearless unit which chooses not to withdraw, it's the aircraft destroyed? So a landa wins a ground attack against a warhound but is broken as a result of bms from CAP, overwatch etc, the warhound doesn't withdraw and status within 15cm is the landa destroyed?

It could possibly survive as rules for WE's that break are slightly different to normal units.
A WE that has just broken loses 1 damage point for each enemy unit within 15cm after withdrawal moves have been made.
from 3.2.4
Quote:
If there are any enemy units within 15cms of the war engine after it makes a withdrawal then it suffers one extra point of damage (no save allowed) for each enemy unit that is within 15cms. Additional hits caused by losing an assault or receiving Blast markers while broken cause one point of damage each. Roll for critical hits from these extra hits as you would normally

Cheers, is that 'unit' as in company or unit as in per stand of infantry (ie do they take one wound for 4 strong thousand sons marine Co being within 15cm or 4 wounds?)
