If you have a single scout unit (e.g. IG sniper) in a formation does that allow you to separate the formation into "sections" each with 2 or more non-scout units as long as you keep at least one member of each section within 20cm of the scout? |

Yes. I've found it's best to think of it this way: Every non-scout must be within 5cm of another unit. Every scout must be within 20cm of another unit. |

Not quite. Scouts have to be within 20cm of any other unit (scout or not). Non-scouts have to be within 5cm of any other unit (scout or not). A formation with two units (one scout and one non-scout) would have to have both within 5cm of each other: S-N A formation with three units (one scout and two non-scouts) could be any one of these though: S----N-N N-S-N |

from the NetEA FAQ Quote: Q. How do formations that contain scout and non-scout units form a "chain" to be a legal formation? A. Every non-scout unit must be within 5cm of at least one other unit while scout units must be within 20cm of at least one other unit. So yes you can do this, Quote: N-N----S----N-N

There's some definite down-sides to spreading out like that. Clipping is the biggest, but it also makes you easier to cross-fire too. |
