Calling EpicUK!

Saw on your site that the next codex to be released was Skitarii!! Made me very interested and happy!
Any info that can be leaked? Is it gonna be like the NetEA one?

Or will we have to wait and see??

it's being playtested at the moment.... AFAIK it's NOT based on the NetEA skitarii list and has been written from the ground up by EpicUK

Curious if it's new style (like NetEA) or more based on the HH stuff

Jimmy: Whats the main difference between the 2 in your opinion?

Yeah style is probably not the best term to of used in retrospect as that makes it seem like "play style" versus using the crazy Ad Mech stuff FW is coming out with. Some examples would be the Thallax (think the interesting intersection of marines and fearless but slow) and nutty tanks like the Krios (Power Shielded but low armour) or the Triaros transport (a literal ram used to crash into the enemy that automata come spilling out of to enter combat)

Admittedly these all could be abstracted as Praetorians and Ordinatus, sorta, and many ways could fall into the design trap of "X by another name" which of course I'm not advocating.

Basically to me NetEA feels closer to a higher tech guard than the weird, almost frightening matrix-like constructions they seem to have in the fluff, art, and now HH. There's nothing wrong with that mind you, just that I'd love to see really weird upgrades that provide specials and things that break the mould instead of Hydras, Leman Russ, and Mach tanks (yes I know the LRs are in the cataphractii list- I'm lumping it all together here). I think the Ordinatus as worked out by you all in AM-land covers much of that nicely, especially from a modelers perspective.

Edit: more concrete than vague concepts as I used above. A far out there example=>

Instead of an ordinatus with a good save that could be an abstraction representative of a myriad of various defensive systems (shields, special AM armour, repair systems) with a simple stat entry for Armor, why not leveraging existing abilities and systems not commonly found on AV outside of the larger WE? So how about an AV vehicle with the Knights Power Field rule and weak base save instead? Or an upgrade that allows a notoriously slow unit a dice-rolled chance to use Infiltrate in an assault? A character that allows a resurrection like ability to INF units in the formation instead of removing BM in the rally phase. INF with power fields on the formation as a whole>

Just really out there things that have a lot of chance but are super effective when it is pulled off.

I just feel that AM should not be a list trying for streamlined abstraction. They should be the one with zany upgrades and more detail instead, unique in the EA pantheon. Especially considering they come from a generalized Uber-Faction (Imperial) that already have the gamut of streamlined lists I'd say go crazy on this one. :D
