Can any kind chap describe the specific process/test group that EUK use to determine an army list? I'd like to know the difference as I know they're a closed group but confused by how a list is deemed Approved etc.

Cheers all

Well the shadowy EpicUK committe get together in an ancient mesopotamian temple, after sacrifcing a goat to the great 'kk'mbel'th' "he who will rise again" and anointing their foreheads with its blood, they stand in a circle and discuss the latest playtesting results from the various groups around the UK, if two members disagree on a point then they must undertake the ritual of 'calath-can' where they strip to the waist and play hungry hungry hippos.... the victor gets his way with the army list while the loser is thrown screaming to the wolves...

The meeting ends with the customary chant of 'we must bring NetEA down for it is evil and wrong' then they shake their fists at a picture of Jervis Johnson and ask "why didst thou leaveth us o'great one"

Or is it? Or IS it? OR IS IT??

muhahahahahahahaaa!!

I actually think that Dobbsy's question has merit.
I get the humour here but I'm not sure that Dobbsy was criticising the EpicUK process.
Perhaps we could all learn a thing or 2 from each other if Dobbsy's question was answered?

A list is proposed. People play test it. A list of changes are proposed, voted on, and play tested. Rinse and repeat till the deadline looms and either the list is approved or not.

Rocket science this is not.

as do I, I'm just not in a position to say what definitely goes on as I don't really know...

I know he wasn't, just that there are those who do criticise it (less so lately I'm happy to add) so I felt it was a nod to those types and not a dig at Dobbsy... plus I've been awake half the night with a difficult 5-year old and it seemed funny to my sleep-addled brain :)

Tangentially, is something up Epic-UK development?

It seems like ages since there was a new list, with it just saying TBC under what's coming next. I hope you're still working on lists? It would be great to get your take on the remaining core armies; Squats, SoB, Grey Knights, Skitiarii, ect.

They don't have the same overly strict criteria for approval which leaves more room for personal interpretation and agreement, and less for politics. Combined with the more conservative nature of the lists in general, this leads to a much faster approval process.

There was the release of Space Wolves, Iron Warriors, Yme Loc and Alaitoc recently by Epic-UK.

To expand on Mephiston
Committee of 5 decide which list to do, most interested person writes the initial list. Committee then votes on the elements of the list, then it's tested in their local groups with feedback from them. Changes suggested and voted for as needed. Then opened up to more play testing groups and process repeated until we're happy with the list.

Glyn, there are 32 lists approved by Epic-UK. The only one that could be said to be 'missing' is the Squats.

To be honest a list would have to bring something pretty unique to add more variety to the tournament scene now.

& Squats are being worked upon as part of the NetEA list - would be nice to have another joint list.
