Hi all, Im having a game later today, I have painted up 4 bases of Tau Pathfinders, but dont have any devilfish to transport them in, how many points for them without their transports? Or should I pay full points and set them up as a garrison? Steve |

On that note, ill post the question that maybe the transports should be optional anyway? Ill put this question on the Tau army development thread as well. Steve |

Pathfinders in 40k were compelled to take a transport, which is likely why there is no option for pathfinders on foot in the Epic list. Given that they now can be deployed without transport in 40k, and that their transports gain scout in 40k now, I'd agree that taking them without transport, or giving the Epic version scout, seems a sensible change/addition/option. |

This has been asked about before and at the moment the only list that allows taking them on foot is the Vior'la list. The list AC, yme-loc, has reservations about adding them on foot for list balance issues. He makes a few fair points, mainly around opening up the possibility of them being loaded into orcas. It would have a lot of knock on effects that would need to be balanced for; basically it wouldn't be as simple as just adding them to the list with an adjusted points cost so for now it's not on the cards I'm afraid... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=25792 [Edit] Just had a quick look at the Vior'la list here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=24822 Doesn't look all that different to the Third Phase Expansion list to be honest, basically includes Vespids, Sunshark and Razorsharks, XV104s and pathfinders on foot. You should easily be able to use it with what you've got if you wanted to. [Edit2] And it looks like you've painted them up in at least one form of Vior'la colours as well - it must be fate!! |
