I won an assuallt against a landed Lander is it destroyed as per the aircraft rules or does it survive as the per fearless rules?

If you engaged and won against a landed Fearless aircraft it would not be destroyed. It's a Fearless ground unit at that point.

However, a Fearless aircraft which performs an air assault and loses would be destroyed as per 4.2.5.

[shadow]One more thing would it be destroyed if there were enemy within 5cm as it is unable to move?[/shadow]

Edit: Just reread the rules and obviously they don't as they have not withdrawn! :{[]

I've not seen air assaults played differently to any other assault in that regard. Only as normal fearless ground units with a speed of zero, and therefore immune no matter who initiated the assault. The assault part of an air assault is just like any other assault ("land, disembark, fight an assault"). I know 4.2.5 says they are destroyed, but it reads to me like a clarification for what would be a common uncertainty around what happens to 0cm move units - landed aircraft being by far the lost common 0cm move units. Obviously it does not consider fearless. From a rules point of view, I'd file it under "unspecified". From a logic point of view, I can't really explain why air assaults would be different?

The FAQ just says:

"Q: What happens to Fearless aircraft that lose an assault?
A: Fearless aircraft are immune to the automatic destruction and are instead treated as any Fearless ground unit."

I'd quite like to play it your way - I hate landing craft :)

I believe it should be played as Kyrt says - Fearless units are *not* destroyed if they lose an assault (despite any desires to the contrary). This exact discussion over 4.2.5 was the subject of a similar debate some years ago, and it was agreed that 4.2.5 was there to reinforce the principle that "0"cm units which lose assaults are automatically destroyed.

Agree also with Kyrt. A fearless Landing Craft doing an air assault gets the fearless advantage.

I've always played it as Kyrt describes it.
Fearless makes a unit immune to hackdown and I would consider Fearless to take precedence in this case.

What section is that FAQ under? Didn't see it under 5.2.5.

With Kyrt, Onyx and GlynG on this otherwise what's the point of fearless flyers?

NM, found it. I went straight to the Air Assault section and didn't bother flipping back a page.
