Post subject:  Blast Markers on War Engines

Hi folks,

I would be grateful for your view on an issue that came up in our most recent game.

Do war engines take blast markers like other formations (ie. just for coming under
fire), even if the shots cannot cause damage or do they only take BMs when they take
a hit ?

We eventually decided on the first of these but I would be grateful for any thoughts.

War engines are treated exactly the same as other formations for the purposes of blast markers, so a heavy stubber can place a blast marker on a warlord titan even though it can't damage it, this is the same for AP weapons and AV targets or AT weapons and INF targets

Also worth noting that war engines don't take blast markers when they lose shields, only for 'actual' damage.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

We are in the initial stages of organising a reasonably large scale game (20,000 pts on the table) and I am keen for us to use lots of titans / war engines. Basically, all the stuff you don't normally see in a 3000 pt battle. So, useful to know the above before the game !
