In a way this is all hypothetical because my hobby time has been replaced by home DIY for a few years now (not because I find it fun), but I did buy some things when GW killed off SG, including two boxes of plastic Eldar infantry and one blister of Dire Avengers and Fire Dragons. That means I can put together 4 stands of five figures for each aspect - or 6 stands of three, if each aspect gets an exarch. It's not ideal; I won't be able to assemble a single-aspect formation in the standard Biel-Tan army list. But I'll be doing this more for the hobby aspect than the actual games. For that reason I'm leaning towards full stands of five. Three seems like it might be a bit thin for anything smaller than wraithguard. I did snag a Vampire and Storm Serpent, so I think I'd be able to mix Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks into mixed-aspect formations. I'm half ranting and fishing for thoughts. I don't mind if this becomes a "3 or 5 per stand" general discussion. |

Stats-wise, 5 makes sense for all of them except for Spears and Reapers which represent 3 better. I wouldn't worry about having a full 8 stands of each though, most lists I've seen use mixed formations. Hawks, Spiders and Spears are the main exceptions. |

I went 3 to a 25mm round base for my aspects - same reasons of scarcity. Its o.k up close, but on the table they get a bit lost.I did my guardians 4 to a base which looks much better - as good as 5 imho. |

Yeah I think 4 works quite alright, almost as good as 5. 3 to a base for regular inf does take away a bit of the feel though. Some elite unit can be done 3 though (I've put my raveners 3 to a base). This is of course just my IMHO. |

Hi! Given the scarcity of some of those models, 3 models will get you more stands. Although if you can swing it 4 would look visually pleasing as well as save you 1 model. Primarch |
