So I've been looking at the training scenarios from the rule book and wanted to include the Orks as the Beta force to make the games a little less one dimensional. I've pulled together some army lists for the scenarios. As I've not played the game before I'm not sure if the match-ups are fair/compatible, so I would like the more experience players to give it a once-over and critique them for me.

Scenario 1: Basic training
Imperial 2 x Tactical Marine Detachments, 6 stands each.
Orks 2 x Regular Warband, 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz and 2 Grotz each.

Scenario 2: Fast attack training
As above plus Imperial 2 x 3 Rhino detachment.
Orks 2 x 4 Battlewagons

Scenario 3: Armoured training
Imperial 2 x Predator Destructor Detachments, 4 tanks each.
Orks 2 x Regular Mechboy Stompamobs, 3 Stompas each.

Scenario 4: Advanced training
Imperial 2 x Tactical Marine Detachments, 6 stands each, plus Rhinos. 1 x Devastator Marine Detachment, 4 stands, plus Rhinos. 1 x Assault Marine Detachment, 4 stands.
Orks 2 x Regular Warband, 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz and 2 Grotz each, plus Battlewagons and 8 Dreadnoughts. 1 Stormboyz Warhorde, 6 Stormboyz stands.

Scenario 5: Combined arms training
Imperial 2 x Tactical Marine Detachments, 6 stands each, plus Rhinos. 1 x Devastator Marine Detachment, 4 stands, plus Rhinos. 1 x Assault Marine Detachment, 4 stands. 1 x Whirlwind Detachment, 4 tanks
Orks 2 x Regular Warband, 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz and 2 Grotz each, plus Battlewagons and 8 Dreadnoughts. 1 Stormboyz Warhorde, 6 Stormboyz stands. Uge Meckboyz Gunzmob, 15 big gunz.

Scenario 6: Specialist training
Imperial 2 x Tactical Marine Detachments, 6 stands each, plus Rhinos (one with a Commander and the other with a Dreadnought) 1 x Landraider Detachment, 4 tanks. 1 x Landspeeder Detachment, 5 Landspeeders.
Orks 2 x Regular Warband, 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz and 2 Grotz each, plus Battlewagons (one with a Warlord and the other with 2 Killa-kans. 1 x Uge Blitz Brigade, 12 Gunwagons. 1 x Big Blitz Brigade, 8 Deth Koptas.

Scenario 7: Death from the skies! No change.

I missed the war engine training scenario lists, but I think these are ok.

Thanks for your input Rastaman, the points differences between the two forces are difficult to balance. I initially thought the same as you for the armoured training, but wasn't sure if all those Gunwaggons would be too many.

You might struggle with this one; destructors have very little AT firepower...
Change to Pred Annihilators. Maybe use blitz brigades for the Orks too for a more dynamic game (as I think Rasta mentioned)

I did initial wonder why Destructors were used for an armoured scenario with no infantry. I can only assume that their AP use comes into use on later scenarios (we're infantry is involved).

Making these calculations, maybe it doesn't make that much difference 2 stompamobs or 2 blitz brigades, but I think the blitz brigades are neat! You can also have one of each, though you'll be introducing the concept of advanced rules before the specialist training one, which may not be a big deal, since you already do that simply by bringing in the nobz and the grotz.

I did wonder about the Nobs/Grots coming in too early, do you think that the Boyz can run alone until the specialist training?

I wonder if IG may be an easier option?
