When I get into a new wargame, one of the first things I do is go onto YouTube and do a general search for the game. Epic Armageddon and Epic generally don't currently have many results. One I thing I love to find is a tutorial (or even better a series) detailing how to play the game. Great looking minis/terrain also help to get me hooked.

Sadly I don't have the equipment/knowledge to make such a production, any volunteers?

Great idea but I wouldn't volunteer either, for the same reasons as you!

Yeah I'd be keen to do it but I lack even a video camera [shrugs]

Willingness is a great start Jimmy, now go and write to Santa for that camcorder you always wanted. ;D

Sounds really great. I was always thinking about some video battle reports and totally forgot about the basic stuff. By fortune I got an hd-camera but currently no one who is able to assist me :(

would anyone here share some thoughts how a tutorial should be mounted? Once the concept is done, the rest is just a minor matter of time ;)

Can't Hena do it?! He has made some excellent video reports in the past!

Hi Nachthall, I would love to work on this will you, but I'm sure distance will play a major part in it not happening. But I will advise as much as possible. :geek

Due to YouTubes being 10 mins (unless you have a special account), I would break the tuition down into manageable parts. It probably makes sense to follow the flow of the rulebook here. Start with what you need to play a game (table setup, miniature overview, dice/markers etc). Then formations, blast markers etc.

I would zoom in close on the table (say a 24 x 24 inch frame of the table), highlighting two detachments at a time, minis and dice results should be clear. Maybe playout the training tutorials from the rulebook. Angle of the camera is important here, I've seen some great reports with the camera from directly above the table; this mimics the view in a rule book. Speak clearly (sound like your enjoying the game, not just teaching it). If you want more advice about the technical aspects of filming/editing there are plenty of how to's on YouTube. (Wargames Consortium has some good ones).

If you can do all this and more (no pressure) I for one will be eternally grateful as will many future new players.

Yeah I was thinking this as well, it could be a good starting point.

Additional thoughts:

It would be great if these tubes could have an official net epic armageddon stamp on them and include support from TOs and Judges.

I was wondering if it would be interesting to start from the very beginning. Would mean where to get minis, what base sizes (saw that question several times appearing in this forum) and what kind of rule sets are available. Thereafter a video for explaining the basic game mechanics as shown in the training scenarios.

One of the reasons I thought about this being an official series of tubes is that it could accommodated all these type of areas brought up on the forum, helping to bring the forum a visual angle and promotion. And a great way to bring the rule book to life.

You truly got me for that idea. I would suggest collecting all interesting questions and stuff that should be treated within the series. Furthermore a high resolution version of the taccom logo would be nice to link the video to this forum.
So all in all it means proper planning for december. Is there anyone with a good overview about current faqs and how often specific questions are asked? I am aware that in this system quite often appear some really rare situations that could be used as content as well.

I had some ideas back when the SG was still supported. I did kind of give up the idea as they don't sell miniatures. What is the point in getting new people to play when they cannot buy models?

This is true but with more companies providing 6mm proxies and a strong showing on second-hand sites we can all just about meet our needs

I did some testing and actually it is a lot harder than it sounds to begin with.

"To begin with" does this mean you have it worked out and could possibly do it? Is there any assistance required from the massed brains/resources of the forum?
