What is the advantage of up grading to a Barge? Other than the transport capacity.

Does the BP table work the same for space craft (extra pie plates and BMs)

Actually the Battle Barge is rarely seen in tournament games (typically 3k), because it is "Slow and Steady", so it does not appear until turn #3.

The Battle barge it is much more usefull in your own scenario, where the greater transport capacity means that a serious number of THawks Landing Craft and Drop Pods can be used to transport an invasion force. At this scale, the 8BP bombardment is very handy, but hardly 'game changing' . . . .

Greater transport and more BP for the orbital barrage.

seems to be taken rarely due to the slow and steady rule which makes battleships pretty much worthless un the GT scenario in my opinion. In a specific scenario like Chroma's Total War supplement it could be a game changer or more attractive. For instance a scenario for a beachhead could be seen where player A can take spaceships that all can enter turn 1 while player b cannot but gets free fortifications and can garrison formations that normally cannot (or some subset thereof)
