So, many people will have already seen my growing modular grey guard army who enable me to play several lists using just one collection, everything from Death Korps of Krieg to Vraksian Traitors in fact!

I sold my marines and chaos collections in the past year or so having not thoroughly enjoyed playing codex marine all that much and finding the standard CSM list a bit cookie cutter, additionally my LatD were Khornate themed and, to put it mildly, i think that slow moving close combat armies suck in Epic!

Having a new job and a stable income now means that I'm looking to recoup some of my hobby losses and start anew; after all, we all know that there are some really great proxies available these days after the demise of Specialist Games and I wanted to see if people would help me chew the cud as to what to do next, specifically if you think the Relictors Chapter, painted up all clean and imperial, could also work as a traitor legion army; after all, they're excommunicated and like daemon weapons so perhaps Assualt Marines as Raptors isn't so bad, etc...are there any potential 'counts as' stretches that might be going too far for example?

Or maybe I should just go all out and collect two more armies instead of one!

They'd play just dandy under the Red Corsairs list I expect. Sounds like a great way to stretch your hobby cash

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Relictors are excommunicated.

As far as how you run them, I am always super flexible about that kind of thing! They're your models! Want to run them as Chaos marines? Fine by me! The only time that kind of thing gets annoying is when people start trying to proxy Space Marines for Tyranids or other such silliness.

Man all the sudden this thread is starting to sound like discussions I'm seeing at WarSeer ;)

Proxy != Count As

As long as it is clear what is what, it's going to be kosher, mate. I mean devs are just havocs and vice versa, right?

dptdexys uses his nightlords as blood angels, I don't think it would be a problem, agree with Jimmy, it's pretty easy to tell what the models are (havocs, termies, raptors etc) shouldn't be an issue

Aren't all minis just proxys ? because 8 foot tall genetically modified super troopers are difficult to come by in large quantities ? ;)

Seriously, that exactly what i'm doing. For me its time and patience as much as money. If i had to paint 50 more guard stands for each variation i'd go crazy ! :D Same goes (eventually for SM and Eldar. In the future I'm trying to be clever. For example, my IG is krieg grey, i am planning to paint any more IG tanks in grey/karki cammo. Think they will look fine together as Steel Legion/Cadians, but i could also split them eventually to have a Ulani/Minervans and Krieg/Barren options to face each other.

As long as its clear whats what i cant see any reasonable person having a problem with it - if they did i'd suggest not playing them ! :) But maybe things are tighter in tourneys ?

You won't have any problems running the army for Codex and Chaos at events.
I've seen a lot of Chaos lists using normal marine figures and have myself used (Dark Blue) Chaos figures for Blood Angels.
The only thing I would suggest is to have the odd extra stand for things that are not in each lists, such as Daemon Princes, Chaplains and such.
