Post subject: | Newbie questions |
I have a couple of total newbie questions (please dont laugh!) When a formation is mixed units (i.e a terminator formation with a couple of land raiders) if the formation chooses to fire on an enemy can it use all weapons that are in range (the Terminators assualt cannons and the Land Raiders heavy bolter) or must it use one or the other? We presumed that all the weapons in range could be fired? Also, in an Assualt, when the counter charges are made and other units are drawn in a couple of us dont really get the whole "2D6" bit of the rules..... Why doesnt it just get resolved normally? These came up after a game last night and I apologise for how basic they are! After searching the forums I found some answers that were close but not exact.... |

Mixed formations may fire all their weapons, with the exception of mounted infantry The 2D6 roll is to represent the element of luck..... To give someone pause when engaging riskily.....plus it's just how the game works! I wasnt around when the rules were developed so can't comment on why, but it's useful to note that epic is not a simulation! So certain things are often abstracted into a simple dice roll Edit: I'm not sure if I've understood your question....you still fight the assault, the 2D6 is added to each side's combat res score at the end.... |

Ah thats where our confusion came in. The 2D6 being added after the assualt makes sense now |

You always roll 2D6 and pick the highest after any assault, not just multiple combats ![]() |

Both can shoot, so long as the Terminators aren't inside the Land Raiders at the time. Note it's the highest of the 2D6, not them added together. It's to add some element of randomness, unknown and luck to the assaults, sometimes events can go against one side or another. |
