Post subject:  Couple of noob questions

Been on a bit of a 6 month epic-sabbatical ; partly real life took over for a while (house restoration), and partly my gaming group went on an unexpected trip down memory lane with a Necromunda campaign. Quietly I've been keeping on with slowly painting Eldar and it's finally paying off as I'm getting some serious interest in Epic:A from gaming buddies again. We've had a few games since Christmas and a couple of rules queries have come up. Sure they are very obvious but we're on our own down here so need an expert to fill us in ! :-)

1. Commander Special ability : Can a unit which has already been activated that turn be re-activated again to take part in an assault by a commander unit ? RAW doesn't seem to contradict this and so my opponent's Avatar and accompanying spirit warriors made tin foil out of my super heavy tanks from 29cm last week... Commander special ability suddenly seems much more powerful ! :o

2. They Shall Know No Fear : We assume you suppress a unit per every 2 BMs as you go rather than wait for the unit to share round its BMs one each? ie: If a formation of 4 stands has 2 BMs does that suppress one or is the first unit suppressed when the formation reaches 5BMs (assuming no casualties) ?

Thanks, and when i get a chance I'll post up some pics of my TOEG Eldar (just a little late) ! :whistle

Plus, if anyone has any tips for beating Eldar with IG i'd really appreciate the help ! :D

1) No, one activation per formation per turn.

2) 4BMs, 2 units suppressed with TSKNF.

Blip, you can tell your Eldar player that he can still get that 'multiplier effect' by assaulting with one formation (preferably a quick one like the Warlock titan or Swooping Hawks or such), consolidating their movement to within 15cm of a secondary target, then retaining and assaulting again. That formation that assaulted the first time -assuming they won- can lend fire on the second assault which is not bad...

Thanks guys.

Moscovian - yep we were aware of these kind of situations - where a unit which has previously activated can still lend support in an assault. This only seemed a small step further - small units flocking towards a significant leader who then leads them in a charge in their own activation. However even my opponent agreed that the potential for exploitation with double assaults + the FOF Eldar special rules (aspects in wave serpents anyone?) was terrifying ! :-)

I assume this hasn't tripped anyone else up before as there seemed to be no FAQ on it, but might it be worth adding "any unactivated unit within 5cm" to the wording of the rule in the next compendium for clarity?
