Post subject:  Question about the "AND/OR" weapons

Hello guys.

I already know that a weapon with AND in its description can be used in both "modes", but those that are noted with OR must choose one of them.

I supose that it could be useful in the case of a weapon like this:
(assault weapon),TK(D3) AND
(small arms), MW
If such weapon was mounted in a war engine, it could be relevant becouse war engines have multiple attacks, and you can split its attacks between CC and FF.

But my question is about the normal Land Speeders, which are armed with this:
(small arms), MW AND
15 cm, MA5+
My question is: when exactly does it matter? I mean, I can't imagine a situation in which you can attack with the FF valour AND make a shoot. What would be the difference if it was noted with OR?

Thank you in advance.

I think in this case it's to clarify that the speeders have both MW FF attacks, as well as a ranged attack

And to denote the. Speeder can both shoot with the meltwater MW5+ and use it's firefight in firefight support at MW5+.

It just doesn't matter. If the speeders had OR the effect would be the same, as you can never attack with ranged attacks and firefight attacks at the same time.

But it's only one weapon, so you have to write something.

As noted, "AND" & "OR" are used to denote that the weapon capabilities can be used in different combat modes (Shooting, FF and CC). This is a mechanism that allows the designer to vary the volume and type of shooting capability as well as the different assault mode capabilities.

"AND" usually denotes that the weapon mode carries across from shooting into assault.
"OR" denotes that a choice must be made within the particular combat mode. This is usually in assault, though occasionally the choice applies to shooting particular titan weapons over different ranges, and may even apply to the choice of weapons at the start of the game eg Space Marine Dreadnoughts.

So, in the case of the Land Speeders, "OR" would not be appropriate for the MW weapon, as it only has one combat value in shooting and assault. However "AND" denotes that the weapon also uses MW in FF, rather than a 'standard' value of 5+

Ahh, that explains a lot. Thank you for elaborating Ginger!
