Post subject:  Presentation and some questions about IG

Hello. I'm from Barcelona, Spain, so excuse my poor english

I am a big fan of your forum. Normally I found here all the information that I need, but now I have some questions and I hope someone could help me

I've seen on your forum some DKoK infantry that I love a lot. You talk about some "french troops" but I cannot found where to buy this figs...

I like a lot the ghq KV-II for Leman Russ or Ragnarok proxy, I know it's a little small than a LR tank, but I need some cheap proxies. I supose 10mm figures will be so big (for example Pendraken). What do you think?

Do you use 1:285 plastic aircraft (trumpeter for example) to do marauders and thunderbolts? It's a good idea?

Thank you very much and best regards

On the French Troops, they'll find you if you make enough noise. Another alternative are the Royal Empire troops from Exodus Wars.

A 6mm KVII is going to be small, somewhere around 23mm long. Minifigs' 10mm one might work better for Epic, it be 42mm long:

10mm troops for Epic would be too big I think next to other armies.

CaptPiett used some Trumpeter figs for his Black Legion aircraft. There's some pictures up on his Emperor's Children blog.

Most 1/285 scale are a bit small ... 10mm vehicles could work though ... Also check out Exodus Wars, DRM, MicroWorld and CinC for models that are perfectly compatible with Epic scale ...

Hello, thanks for your answers.

42mm isn't too much? A LR MKI is 3cm and a Rhino 20mm. I don't have any LR but it seems about 24 or 25mm

I dont' like the Royal Empire troops. It seems I need to make more sound for the DKoK... :)

To be fair, Epic vehicle models have always varied quite considerably in scale and are not normally true 6mm; and in real life, the dimensions of AV (especially tanks) vary quite considerably. In practice the scale does not have any effect on playing the game providing you do not deviate too far either way.

So in the end it all boils down to personal taste and aesthetics; or to quote L4 DWWFY (Do What Works For You)

Thanks for all the ideas

I'm searching for historical models for my IG army. I love the WWII style and there are cheap and great models around. 6mm historical infantry is so small I supose, but tanks or aircraft will be fine for me.

What do you think about historical proxies for chimera, malcador, macharius, hydra, thunderbolt or marauder?

thanks

GHQ's Wehrmacht '47 line would do nicely - http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/military ... rmour.html ... however, again, they tend to be a bit small next to Epic's scale creep over the decades ... Chimera - SdKfz 350/17, Malcador - Brummbar, Macharious - Maus, Hydra - FlakPanther ... to name a few ...
