Post subject:  Tyranid rules?

Sorry for the question in forum. I've not been around for a long while, and I think everything I used to know has dribbled out of my ear. With several new laptops/pc's since I was last here too - I cant find any of the old material.

I'm looking for rules for Tyranids. I finally found most of the Eldar rules., but can't find Tyranid anywhere. Also is there anything on CHaos? Not that I need it.

Thanks.

Edit - I did try the search function - but everything i typed in just failed with a "too common" result.

Yeah sure!

This is a link to our tyranid development subforum. The rules are still in an experimental stage though so they might not be balanced. The more people who play and report their findings the better, it drives development faster.

There are two kinds of list. One is called Onachus in the thread tyranids v10.1, which is an oldschool list based on the old Space marine-epic-era army and also a second list called leviathan (3.0) that's based more on recent 40k codexes. Both are part of the NetEA project and use the same basic army wide special rules.

cheers

that looks perfect thanks.

As soon as I've actually got the models, and then tried it out - I'll give some feedback. Not likely to be anytime soon though.

epic-uk has a completed list on their website (www.epic-uk.co.uk), it's intended for tournament play, but I play against it pretty regularly and it's pretty good, not to undermine the good work done by the NetEA boys on here of course..... :)

thanks for that. They look similar. Without printing both out and comparing I cant tell the difference.

I need an as official/balanced list as possible, as I will be trying to convince some of my current fantasy playing mates into giving it a try.

I'll be using the Epic Armageddon rule book, so it needs to be compatible (which they both looked like they were).

yeah fully compatible, if you're planning on entering any of the UK based tournaments advertised on here, they mostly use EpicUK lists :) (although as pointed out, not all do)

I doubt i'll be entering a tournament any time soon.

I might be tempted with a training game/teaching game if there was something local. I've played in the past - but it was a long time ago. I even went to the tournament at GW HQ when they released Epic A.

well you're certainly in the right area, we have lots of first timers at tournaments, they're a different animal to 40k/WFB tournaments, much more friendly and helpful, good learning experience in general :) just thought I'd suggest it if it was an option

Well that is a false statement.

Yes, it's a little sweeping. A large percentage of UK tournaments utilise the EpicUK lists. But, there still a number that don't and most events outside the UK.

I did not expect a .net to be uk centric.

I think views are clouded in this respect. No matter.

Well, I certainly don't consider myself to be too much UK biased at all. If it comes across that I am, please do feel free to drop me a PM about it as I would like to know. Thanks.

No not at all CS

Other than pointing out which lists exists (as asked for above), I think the whole political debating over uk vs neterc could be done without. Hence my response to the statement (my first post above). Nothing more :)

Post subject:  Re: Tyranid rules?

I do apologise, I saw that the OP was based in the UK and so didn't expect him to be entering many tournaments overseas..... post edited to reflect this

I also put in my first reply that it was not my intent to undermine the work done by the NetERC, I simply thought it worth mentioning that there are alternatives out there, I did not intend on causing offence
