Ok, first off... pinpoint attacks from a spaceship can only target WE.. that's fine and dandy, but can you specify multiple targets if you have multiple pin point attacks available? or do they all lump onto the one target?

Secondly, at the start of the game you plot the co-ordinates for your planetfall arrival... and your orbital bombardment if you have one. Is there any restriction on whether the orbital bombardment uses the same co-ordinates as the planetfall drop? I couldn't see specifics in the rulebook saying yes but at the same time, couldn't see anything explicitly saying no either so just wanted to be certain.

i.e. Could I have my spaceship coming in on turn 3, use 3 x pinpoint attacks to attack 3 separate targets. The orbital bombardment I target on my own blitz (anticipating that my opponent will be there by the start of turn 3) and the planetfall I target on my opponents blitz.

Have I got that right? :)

Lastly, talking specifically about dreadclaw drop pods.. you plot your planetfall co-ordinates. When the spaceship arrives, you place your dreadclaws within 15cm of the co-ordinates and it just doesn't scatter. I'm assuming for the sake of the game that the dreadclaw itself is pretty much a marker for the first unit from the detachment and you just position the unit around that marker, within coherency etc... or do all of the units making planetfall have to land within that 15cm boundary from the planetfall co-ordinates?

Yes
- pinpoints can be spread across different formations
- bombardment/pinpoints/drop pods can all be in different locations, so your example would be fine

Dreadclaws - plot them, place the dreadclaw within 15cm of that plotted point - no scatter and no deathwind. All troops from the formation within that dclaw deploy within 15cm of the pod (which is just a marker). Like drop pods each formation has a seperate dreadclaws

So I presume the 5 point cost for a dreadclaw isn't specifically for an individual dreadclaw, just indicative of the cost to transport a single unit within a dreadclaw as part of the formation... i.e. the same way marines just go "yep I'm using drop pods!" but no mention is ever made of the number of drop pods it'd take to dump say a tactical detachment.

I love this game for its abstract qualities :)

Ok, whipped up a quick pic... this is how I understood your explanation, is this right?

Blue is the 15cm area extending from the planetfall co-ords, red is the 15cm area extending from the dreadclaw, black bits are stands of infantry from the same detachment:

Yes = so a retinue (8 stands) 8 x 5pts 40pts to put in dreadclaws but just 1 dreadclaw plotted, chosen - 4units - 20pts to put in dreadclaws - still 1 plot

Diagram looks right

Brilliant, thanks :)

I was under the impression Dreadclaws did have the deathwind...

Lokking at the Specialist games list, they have a Deathwind weapon listed, and in the notes it says they attack everything within 15cm.

Has this been changed in EpicUK / NetEA

Yep, no deathwind - fair price to pay for no deviation though :)

edit: in the epic uk chaos sm lists at least!

Both netEA+EpicUK changed over a year ago to no scatter+no deathwind. It was the least problematic way to represent the mobility of the dreadclaw.
