Finally, any formations belonging to the losing side that were in a position to have lent support (ie, they were within 15cms of an enemy unit in the assault) receive one Blast marker each, even if they did not actually lend support. These Blast markers represent the detrimental effect on morale of seeing friends defeated in an assault.

The friendly unit still needs LoS to the victorious enemy formation in order to get this BM, correct? Otherwise it wasn't in a position to lend support. I'm assuming the "even if they did not actually lend support" part is in there for stalled assaults and not for formations within 15cm but with no LoS.

Also, follow up: what if the friendly unit doesn't have an FF but does have LoS and is with 15cm. Does its formation still get a BM? I'd think so.

I'd say yes, and yes, respectively (the "no FF" was actually my initial thought for they meant by "not in a position to lend support").

Yes, the formation gets the BM if it was in LoS and within 15cm of enemy units involved in the assault - so it could potentialy have provided support.

However there are a number of reasons why the formation was not actually able to support, (being broken, not having any FF capability, no live enemy units in range etc), but it stll gets the BM even under these kind of situations. Also note, that if Broken, that BM usually translates into a dead unit.
