Well, after a fair amount of work (if you can call it that), I have finally finished my Genestealer Cult army list for EpicA.

It is a modellers army, or a fun army, but certainly not an army to play if you want to seriously win an even game. So, I would really appreciate it if you guys could take a look at it and let me know what you think - whether they are just first impressions or if you manage to play a game with it. Also, if you have any comments, please let me know.

The list is here: Genestealer Cult list

I am also very tempted to start a new thread so that people can post pictures of any mutant infantry stands that they have put together in Epic!  :D

Genestealers rock! My all time fav GW model is the 40K Genestealer Patriarch, too bad it cant be used in 40k anymore... Stealers were a lot cooler than the tyranids!

Which one do you mean Brother-Captain? -The one sitting on throne or the standing one? -Both pretty nice in opinion- especially with the seated one turned into a cool little diorama- I've seen a few of these.. :D

Well you could always drum up a V40k army list for them.

There already is a 40K Cult list. I had a chat with Tim when putting the Epic version together. You can join the Yahoo Group here:

Genestealer Cult 40K List

There are several versions on the web in places, but Tim works for GW, had it published in the Journal and always keeps the latest version here, and is happy to chat about it. Tell him that I said hi.

As for the models, the sitting Patriarch was one of the best that GW ever produced. I have one unassembled and waiting to be put together, and I am always looking for more of this model. (Another cool one was the old Nurgle Palaquin. I want to combine the two ideas for a Genestealer Palaquin!)

The standing one was not to my taste. It was a little big and looked like it would be slow.

I also managed to track down some 40K Purestrain Genestealer Familiars which I will be using for my Epic force. Very cool models.

I have the throne and the standing purestrain models. Those were the days when genestealers were more powerful and were to be feared.

As for the list I will check it out since I use my tyranid army a lot.  I would like to hear what others have to say about it too
:D

Hi,

Another thread for modelling would be VERY useful as I have a month to assemble a Genestealer Cult army for the EZine (probably an article in itself!), then to see how it fares against humanities finest!

I am planning a couple of further things for the Cult list. A set of Q&A's might be useful, depending on how much and what type of feedback is required. I might do an article selecting a 5000 point with it. The converting article is the most obvious, and I have left space for it. I plan on having just a whole bunch of stuff, collected together into a single page.

The trouble is, my Stealer force for E40K never really got off the ground and I have a lack of stuff myself. On the one hand, this is great as I can start from the beginning and get pictures all the way, on the other it makes advice difficult.

So, what units in particular will be a problem? I would guess that the biggest issues would be:

Hybrids, Patriarch, Mutants (  :o  )

Other manufacturers might be able to help out with:

Trucks, bikes

I havea Patriarch mini already, and you should be able to make Hybrids by adding the claw from a Hormagaunt to a Guard or other human figure. Mutants you are on your own with!  :D

What do you need?

I made a Genestealer Cult Army list based on the old G/W fluff, to be used with our hybrid rules, also.  Merging the SM1 Chaos Cultist templates with the old G/W story line.  Kind of like this one.  I like the insidious nature of that old fluff, but I actually, have never gamed with it yet, and it appears, I will have to update it a bit.

Ehumm... Converting mutants and brood bros for epic sounds a bit too timeconsuming for my taste, I mean youre gonna need a lot of them, as they will be the grunt troopers of the army (I guess?) Were talking hundreds of minis... Plz post pics when ready :-)

Not massively, if we are talking about:

Inner Circle (500)
One Patriarch, One Magus, Six Purestrain units, Six Hybrid units, Three 4th Generation Hybrid units
- Inner Circle Transport (225)
  Five Cult Limousines, Six APC's

Abhumans (150 points)
Ten Beastmen units
- Bolster the Ranks (100 points) - Eight Beastmen units

Cult Support (150 points)
Ten Brood Brother units
- Cult Support Weapons (100 points) - Four Cult Support Weapons
- 6 x (15 = 90) To upgrade to heavy infantry

Brood Brothers (150 points)
Ten Brood Brother units
- Commanders (40 points) - Two 4th Generation Hybrid units

Then it shouldn't be TOO bad... but what of the army list? Is it functional?

Cool. A few points:

- First error discovered. You actually get twelve mutant stands, not ten. Thanks and sorry. I will change that now.

- Brood Kin. I am still debating whether to allow the core infantry to be upgraded to heavy, or whether to not allow the upgrade, only the additional units to be heavy. Right now, I still favour having the upgrade (as standard troops would be a bit worthless in a Support formation), but I am open to comments.

Aside from that, the list looks pretty functional. I make it slightly over 1400 points. I am REALLY interested to hear how it does, I will be bombarding you with questions after the game! ?:D

I would love to see this. Do you have a copy that you could email me?
