I'm helping a player collect and paint an Eldar force. He has already bought Forgeworld Wave Serpents, and now he wonders how these will look next to GW Falcons. Do they scale well? Are there any differences between the current GW Falcon sculpt and the E40K ones (if one would resort to eBay)? Also, do SG Falcons, Fire Prisms and Fire Storms use the same basic hull? Finally, is the Forgeworld Firestorm model based on the now discontinued Falcon model? /Fredmans |

Hmmm... Yes, yes, yes, and I think so. The FW and GW Falcons are almost identical in size. The GW models have a more pronounced frame to the canopies, the FW are similar to the Wave Serpents in that they have almost no molded canopy, only a shallow scribe around the edge. The FW Firestorm is a Type II Falcon hull, I don't know if the FW Falcon is. Didn't Axel Fendersson use FW Falcons? Does anyone have those images saved? |

SG Falcons and Fire Storms share the same chassis, while the fire prism hull is slightly different (it has a different rear hull arrangement) The only difference between the current GW/SG falcons and the E:40k falcons is that in E:40k there were 4 hull and 4 turret variants. There is only one variant available now. |

No the FW Falcon is the original/standard pattern, just the Firestorm has the type II hull at the rear - see here for a picture of what this looks like. Personally I prefer the type II hull and plan to convert all my epic Eldar tanks to have it. Quick bit of searching finds a photo of a FW Falcon here. |
