Hi All, This is probably a no-brainer. A Terminator formation has 4 Terminator units. And upgrade is a Commander. Would that add an additional unit(stand) to that formation? So there would be a total of 5 units in that formation? And how would that typically be modelled? Would a Terminator unit with a commander figure be used? Or would a generic marine unit with a commander model suffice? Thanks! -Ed |

GW do sell a character pack that includes a metal Terminator Chaplain, Librarian and Commander figure. Or a single terminator on the base could be painted an appropriate colour (Chaplains = Black, Librarians = Blue, Commanders = Different). Or the base could be appropriately marked as different. Or you could try your hand at a conversion. There are some really cool looking conversions you can do, if you have the hand for it. As long as it's easy to distinguish, it's not usually going to be an issue. Morgan Vening |

As Morgan noted, characters are not a separate unit, but add to a unit in the formation. The stat lines and special abilities are added to the unit you attach the characters to. Note, not all "commanders" are characters. Imperial Guard commanders are special units that have a different Unit Datasheet than other IG units in the formation. IG Commissars are, however, characters that add to whatever unit they are assigned to. |
