Coming up to another games day/ tournament and new people to play as a result. I'm always forgetting good things to bring up in the 5 min warm up, so I figured I'd start a list. For starters:

Do you allow CAPing of CAP
Any barrages?
Spacecraft and teleports?
What special rules does your army have?
What counts as cover for aircraft attacks.
Do you like biscuits?

Any other good inclusions? I almost always go 1/2 way in a game and then remember something I should have asked at the beginning :)

What do all the terrain pieces on the table count as?
Are there any counts-as proxies in your army?

When is a unit counted as being in cover?

Along those lines, you could ask "fancy a bag of crisps while riding a lift? Don't forget to toss the bag in the rubbish." :)
Of course, those of us at NEAT III wouldn't understand a word you're saying as its on the uncivilized side of the pond...

I always ask for the activation count. Second on the terrain, with emphasis on cover saves and LOS (some use "natural" LOS, others use more abstract - like forests that reach into the stratosphere. Yes, I'm looking in your direction, Dave)

Hey, if you want to make some more trees so we can properly populate our forests be my guest. Otherwise, they're Red Woods unless we agree to something else. It's the same in Warmaster with me not being able to shoot over the heads of my troops that are on a lower level than the archers.

Didn't Neal or someone put together a 5-minute warmup topic prior to this? I remember it being discussed before.

Oh, the disembark issue. Whole stand within 5cm or just one part of the model with 5cm.

makes perfect sense to me. That made me think of the scene in Austin Powers 2, where Austin and his dad are speaking in Cockney code - I understood nearly every word of it, me old china.

now now Dave-of-the-sneaky-Landspeeders fame :)

Neal probably did, I just couldn't find it in 5min of cursory looking, so figured it either wasn't stickied or hadn't made the transfer from the old forums.

thanks for the ideas though everybody, I'll type 'em up later so I can print off a checklist.

Yes, we put together a list. I don't know if it made it to a separate document but I couldn't find a doc when I looked through my computer files. It probably just stayed in a thread on the boards and may be gone after the reboot.

Edit: And yes, for the record, I do like cookies.

My question is what do you do if both players can't agree on a situational outcome like "Oh we play hills always block LOS" - "Sorry mate, we don't and I won't play that way"

Always gives me an "adjust the collar in a Simpsons manner" moment.

The more mature player agrees to play it the way the other guy wants to play, and the impasse is gone.

Your assuming the one of the player is more mature than other. After all two grown men playing with Toy Soldiers is a bit....you know. =)

Roll a dice if you can't come to an agreement. But I've never seen it come to that on an Epic table.

..reflective of their higher mental powers and general acuity?

If I come across an odd situation and the other player is adamant about it, then just play it that way and check afterwards. After all, any rule you play by should apply equally to both of you so it's unlikely one of you will have an advantage. Besides, it's a game!

Well, cookies are a sub-type of biscuits after all :)

Here's a summary:

Do you allow CAPing of CAP
Any barrages?
Spacecraft and teleports?
What special rules does your army have?
What counts as cover for aircraft attacks.
Do you like biscuits?
What do all the terrain pieces on the table count as?
Are there any counts-as proxies in your army?

The disembark issue. Whole stand within 5cm or just one part of the model with 5cm?
