Post subject:  Shooting mixed formations

I have a question about shooting mixed formations, like a mechanised infantry company and the likes of it.

From what I read in the rules I cant split fire and I have to choose if I use AP or AT, but does that mean that I can shoot everything either at the transports or the infantry, or can I say for example split 8 attacks, so that 4 attacks are AP and the other 4 are AP? I know I cant split fire to shoot 2 different formations but what about splitting between AP and AT?

You can split fire between AP/AT any way you want. For instance a bog standard Mech. Inf. regiment has 14x AP5/AT6 and 7x AP5 shots. You could take 21x AP5 shots, 7x AP5 and 14x AT6, or anywhere in between, say 14x AP5 and 7x AT6.

You can split fire between AP and AT on a weapon by weapon basis. A formation of imperial guard infantry can split freely between AP5+ and AT6+ for example. However, if a weapon has more than one shot, all shots from that weapon must be fired in the same mode, so for example a warhound titan's vulcan megabolter can fire 4xAP3 or 4xAT5+ but not a mixture of the two. If there are multiple such weapons they can of course each be fired in different modes, providing that each weapon only fires in one mode.
