Post subject:  Fluff Question About the Emperor

You guys seem like an intelligent lot. I was reading some fluff on the Emperor and I have this question. If the Emperor's spirit is still alive, why can't any human psychers talk to him?

The Emperor was the most powerful psycher, an immortal demi-god that made the gods of chaos fear him. Then he died but his spirit still lives and powers the astronomicon.

Please correct me if I'm off on the fluff btw.

So why can't Tigurius commune with him for example? When a powerful soul dies it is alive in the warp and then consumed by daemons. That is why the Eldar have spirit stones. But the Emperor isn't consumed. So wouldn't it make sense that he is like a "lesser god" or daemon of chaos? There are lots of small chaos deities, some are even good, as far as I remember in the fluff.

The reason I ask this is that originally the Emperor was the collection of souls from shamans who all killed themselves and joined together. So if the emperor is in the warp, why can't he reincarnate himself?

Post subject:  Fluff Question About the Emperor

The emperor is trapped in a dead body, the celestial choir is psychic power which is channelled through him as a beacon. The Emperor will not enter the warp until his frame is destroyed. A lot of the Inquisition believe this is a positive thing, and believe than the Golden Throne should be destroyed so the Star Child can be reborn.

The Eldar use spirit stones for many reasons the main ones being that unlike humans after they die and their soul leaves their body they retain conciousness and all the memory of there life and if the soul is not captured by the stone it go's into the warp and there is nowhere it can hide from Slaanesh (the choas god that came to life in the fall and the Eldars greatest nemesis) and for the Eldar this is the ultimate nightmare, there worst fear.

Post subject:  Fluff Question About the Emperor

The question may not be whether living psychers can communicate with the Emperor, but whether the Emperor deigns to answer. Think of him as a God that hears all prayers, and answers the most important ones. What His standard of important is, it is difficult to know. I suspect if the prayer/request is important enough to grant, it rarely takes the form of a voice from the sky, so to speak.

He is an infinitely more powerful Eldrad, guiding the skeins of fate. Where he is guiding humanity is anyone's guess. As he does this, he must fight off the four (or six, depending on your point of view) Great Gods of chaos and all their schemes.

Tigurius may simply not be on his A priorities.
