Post subject:  Blast Markers
Hi guys,

I need to conjure up a load of blast markers for the amount of fire power my greenskins always attract.

My Q is, do you guys make your own - if so, how? Or do you purchase any - if so, where from?

I used to have a load of the E40k ones, but they got lost in transit somewhere....

We use these, by Litko, the Gods of markers everywhere:

Litko Blast Markers

We use the small ones for "ones" and the medium ones for "five".

Works really well, and with Litko, their markers work for so many games (these were originally purchased to be used as fires on our Trafalgar ships).

Hey Reedar, I’ve got nine paper blast shapes from the Epic40k box I can give you for free when we meet if you like (enough to make 4.5 whole upright ones when combined – I’ve clearly lost a load over the years). I have no need for them, don’t think I’ve ever used them. That’s not going to last you very long though, you’ll need more.

I bought myself a selection of semi-transparent coloured plastic ones from a company called Litko in America, little pricey possibly and I ended up importing a load direct from them in America though there may well be places here that stock them, didn’t find anywhere but was in a rush and didn’t look that hard.

They look really very nice though and I’m happy with them. I bought one each of the nice looking explosion ones and smoke ones and use a random mix in my games with the very biggest ones counting as 3 or 5. You can see a load of them in battle here.

Yea, I like the look of the Litko ones - although I couldn't find anywhere in the UK which seemed to stock them. Beads may be the way to go, although I do prefer the look of actual 'blasts' in Epic.

What sorta cost is it to import from the states?

About 5-8 USD (£3-5), depending on how much stuff you're ordering. That's assuming you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks. Quicker than that and it starts to get quite expensive.

I use Litko's Mini Blast Markers for individual blast markers and their Medium Blast Markers as fives. I have four sets of ten of the former and one set of five of the latter.

Incidentally, be wary of using superglue to fix the markers together. It can make the clear acrylic go all cloudy.

This is why Litko recommends #33 Craft Glue for their markers, as they claim it doesnt fog up the plastic.  Sadly, I used super glue on mine (I have a fair amount of Litko markers of all kinds - I SWEAR they have a neurotoxin coating*) and they did fog up a bit, but its not bad.

Next time I order from them (next week) I'll get some of this glue...

*of course they dont really, but Litko markers ARE like crack to alot of the gamers around here...

Ah I wish I'd known that, I just used superglue and mine have slightly fogged up, though I did try to not use too much glue once I noticed.

Damn, I wish I'd known about that before.

I learned about superglue fogging up acrylic the hard way, too. The blast markers still look good, but not quite as good as before I glued them.

I just use old dice to keep track of blast markers, which is surprisingly unimaginative for me, but it works, and it does help that I have a load of very poor quality dice from all sorts of different places that have ended up in a box over the years.
