EPIC UK are proud to present...

An EPIC Display at Warhammer World (miniatures gallery).

Yes indeedly, earlier this year EPIC UK was approached by Games Workshop to host an exhibition of the best EPIC tournament armies seen at EPIC UK events. This was a difficult call; with only 5 shelves how were we ever going to put all the fantastically painted EPIC armies, seen at EPIC UK tournaments, in the exhibition?

Long nights of talks were held at EPIC UK towers; allot of pacing and arguments broke out until we made our decision. The armies finally chosen for display were:

Ryan Downes - The Lost and the Damned
Kevin Bott - Army of the Imperium
Matt Arnold - Imperial Guard
Joe Jephison - Eldar
Damian Bradley - Siege Masters
(Backup) Matthew Otter - Space Marines

Unfortunately Damian Bradley couldn't make it so Matthew Otter's Space Marine army stepped in.

The display is on until early September and it's well worth going to. Hopefully this will encourage new EPIC players and also let all the old EPIC veterans see that there is a tournament scene within the UK. There is also a little bit about EPIC UK with the display:

EPIC Armageddon gives you command over a mightily army of the 41st millennium, using miniatures at a smaller scale than the Warhammer 40,000 system. Although smaller just as much effort goes into Epic miniatures. In fact their scale makes conversion work and painting more challenging! Having seen some great armies at a recent event, we invited EPIC UK to show us what it's all about.

"Why do we love EPIC Armageddon? Well because we think it's the best wargame Games Workshop have ever produced of course! Where else do you get to game with hundreds of infantry, tanks, titans and aircraft all on a 6ft board?

Ever since Epic Armageddon came out tournaments have been played throughout the UK, but being independently run few people found out about them. This is where EPIC UK stepped in, in January 2009;

We're an organisation set up by Epic gamers, for Epic gamers. Welcoming veterans and encouraging people who want to know more we have a website with a tournament calendar, tournament rules and much more ... pop along to http://www.epic-uk.co.uk to have a look.

Trust me ... you'll never look back!"

Matthew Otter
EPIC UK Chairman

EPIC UK have been in talks with Games Workshop to see if we can hold another EPIC display in the future and it all looks hopeful; hopefully this means we can display armies like Chris Steel's Orks or Space Marines, Alan Saunders Orks and many many others.

Fantastic. An epic display should be a permanent feature!

I'd be quite happy to put my orks, or my Genesis Chapter marines in there.

Awesome, looks great! :D Excellent to get some epic models on display in Warhammer World! Well done all involved :agree:

Do you reckon this will be a one off or an occasional, perhaps annual, thing? I'm not bothered about scoring that well in a tournament, but I'd love to paint up an army and have the chance of having it displayed there.

That is a fantastic effort by you Matt, thanks for getting Epic up in the spotlight more. And a great selection of army's (well maybe apart from those marines - bit yellow aren't they? :) ). Remind me to reward you if you want it with a squad of Mk1 epic metal marines with your choice of MK1 metal land raider or rhino!

GW actually let you put stuff in there?!  No threats, bribes, or breaking & entering involved?

That's outstanding! :agree:

Now you just need to sell GW on letting you have a monthly display.  There is some good potential outside of just armies with terrain, conversions, etc.

They (well one woman) came and asked for some nice looking armies at an Epic Tournament being held in Warhammer World actually, they were actively looking for people to provide an Epic display for a little while.

I understand that they want to rotate that particular section through various Specialist Games groups over time.

Matt has put great deal of work into the display since then though - organising armies, getting dates which fit into the tourney dates and moving towards making this a regular display.

The woman in chanrge last night was really positive and amazed by the standard of painting and converting, as we were setting it up several people looked at the display and were similarily appreciative.

IMO the display is fantastic advertising for epic.

Is there anything that the Epic community can do to help make this a more permanent feature?

There is some outstanding talent in this community and I'm sure people would be willing to help out if you need more content for any displays.  Heck, it would be really cool to have some fan-made stuff like Raiders on display just to illustrate the level of interest in the game.

Take more pics too!  Some of us aren't up to crossing all the mountain ranges & oceans between home & Warhammer World to see the display.  :vD

And there's a problem; whilst we can display some conversion work we cannot display totally scratch built armies so no Dark Eldar or Necron  :sigh:

Yep that is correct. EPIC UK are working with GW to make this an annual event; were EPIC UK can display more and more good stuff out there from EPIC players.

Thank you

Matthew Otter
