Since Epic:Armageddon is such a good grand-scale game, I want to use its "engine" to play WW2 games (with 6mm miniatures). Although stats, armament and special abilities are quite easy to convert, I don´t know how to manage discipline and morale.

Should higher discipline/morale imply better initiative rating and vice versa (so good morale/discipline is 1+ initiative, normal 2+ and poor 3+)? or would it be better represented by other special rules?? :sulk:

Initiave would seem to be logical choice. More likely to act under fire(ie 1+ troops still act on 2+ if they have BM etc), better ability to rally and so on.

Fearless would be one special rule you could use but would any unit in WW2 deserve that one?

You might also apply 'Fearless' to elite formations (Commandos, Paratroopers etc), and perhaps to elite SS formations or to particular situations (Bastogne, Arnhem, Stalingrad) etc. I would certainly agree on Japanese island garrisons mentioned above - you will see a theme developing here of fanatical defences.

I would also suggest considering some variations like 'variable armour' to reflect a larger number of armour strengths so while Tiger and T34 tanks might be 4+/4+, earlier versions might be 4+/5+ or even 5+/6+. And you should also consider Minefields etc for fixed defences (eg WestWall, Alemain, etc). And don't make the mistake of assuming roads and air were the only modes of transport; both WWI and WWII made extensive use of railways to move huge numbers of troops from one front to another.

Another question you will need to address is troop and ground scale; E:A effectively uses a 1:1 troop scale and a "variable" ground scale which may not suit your requirements.

Thanks for advice!

It will be used for East-front mostly.

Fearless will surely go to SS and Soviet Penal batalions.

The armour and guns stats are quite easy and I´m not having any problem with these (I´m thinking about heavy tanks getting some kind of "reinforced armour").

For trenches and minefields, the fortifications of Baran Siegemaster or similar lists could work well.

Regarding scale, I have in mind battalion level, so 1 stand = 1 section/squad. The variable ground scale of Epic is just perfect!!!, I also find that part of the "engine" rather suitable.

Didn't someone do a full WWII conversion a few years back, with some stats and everything?

I was thinking the same thing...maybe it went in great Tac Comm crash? Or it could even have been on the SG site.

I have it somewhere. I think someone asked the same thing a while back and I uploaded the file here, but not sure.

Maybe this is of some use?
