So where are the FW Epic Warhounds then? Getting restocked?

Assuming the Titanicus game is a go, then I'd say we wont see them relaunched when a potential replacement is around the (very distant) corner

I'm in the corner of 'Around Christmas' we will see a comeback of the most popular models that made the (re)cut.

I'm also in the corner that has lil blue goblins collecting rainbow dust.

I'd be very surprised if the existing Warhounds were ever made available again - new Titan game is going to mean a new range of true-scale titans, probably the much nicer Mars versions too (or both) and I think we'll just have to wait for those, or trade / look on ebay if we want the old ones (personally I've always thought all of FWs existing lucius titan models suck and am looking forward to the new ones).

They sold out first, being some of the most popular models, and won't be restocked, if ever, until after the "range review".

Considering a pair of FW Warhounds on ebay were going for ~£30 when they were still available new from FW for less than £20 I dread to think what they will start going for.

I too believe if Tony's Titan Game comes about, that the old smaller scale titans will not be (re)produced. Along with everything else Epic ...  The price of the possible new bigger titans will be rather expensive I'm sure.  So certainly they don't need competion with smaller cheaper titans.  A Tony scale Warlord is going to be a big(expensive) bunch of resin, I'd imagine ...    8v)

I honestly can't see any rationale behind this move by Tony C. It boggles my mind.

It's simply the rationale GW always uses: It doesn't sell *enough*.

It makes perfect sense from that standpoint.

But if they had mentioned this AT game before or published some sample rules enough fuss and hype would have been caused to generate a lot of pre-release sales of existing models.

Hey-ho GW policies...

I don't really see the need for the scale change with the AT game (but then it's their game), but I am looking forward to it.
I can imagine it being very popular around these parts (owing to the shiny new Titan models), hopefully a good game in and of itself, and hopefully it won't be too hard a sell to get a few people to add some infantry and Tanks alongside their new Titans and start playing Epic. Although it does now present me personally with a problem (I don't really want to buy any other Titans at the moment if this is around the corner, which messes with my plans somewhat).
The loss of the other FW Epic is a real shame, I really hope some of it comes back, but not holding out much hope.

Having recently played Wings of War for the first time I can see where the 'inspiration' came from for AI. I wonder where they will draw 'inspiration' from this time?

That said Wings of War was excellent and had a lot more shooting than AI does.

I'd expect Dan Abnetts book Titanicus to be the inspiration. I always thought Double Eagle was AI's inspiration

Exactly. GW is a publicly traded company. That means it has an obligation to its shareholders to maintain increasing profits. Shareholders expect their shares to be worth more next year than they are now; that's what they bought them for. So the company has to aim to keep making more money than it already is, so that the share price keeps going up.

If a part of the business is ticking over and making a small profit, that's all well and good, but if the resources that are being invested in that area of the business could be reallocated to something else that would make more money then that is what a company is required to do.

If the moulds for FW's Epic models are wearing out and need re-tooling, then that's a pretty obvious point at which to stop and reconsider whether it's worth keeping all of it or maybe dropping some or all of it so that the company can concentrate on more profitable lines.

GW doesn't exist to make games. It doesn't exist to make miniatures. Those are just means to an end. GW, along with every other business ever, exists to make its shareholders richer.

I hope inspiration for the new Titan game doesn't come from Battletech!  :oo:

Indeed ... on reason at all ... IMO ...
