Sigh... Frak me sideways. Well, at least i had an order last month for both flavors of Warhound and split it with a buddy. Now I just put in an order for some terrain and a Gargantuan Squiggoth. Always wanted one of these and now is the time to get it I guess.

Looks like the Gargantuan Squiggoth is gone too....

which seems ridiculous, surely rather than doing a batch of 2 warhounds they could do a normal final run

It *IS* ridiculous... but you have to realize that the FW EPIC stuff is poured by some "outside source" guy in his basement... he actually does it *one at a time*!

I don't think that the case anymore- if it ever was, all the resin kits are produced in Singapore.

So Forgeworld have closed down their resin production line in the UK and outsourced everything to Singapore???

When did this happen?

Are you sure you're not thinking of the resins that are sold in GW stores, which are indeed cast in the far east (China IIRC)?

One of our groups neighbour works in GW in some capacity on the 'factory floor' and that was from him.

I believe he must have been referring to the GW/Citadel resins, and not the Forgeworld resins.

Had a chat with a Forgeworld bloke:

First: FW will put out an announcement about the future of the Epic range via newsletter once they have completed their review (which is apparently happening now, not in several months' time as others have reported).

Second: FW does sub-license a small percentage of production out to Shanghai, and most of the GW/Citadel resins are done abroad, but the greater majority of Forgeworld's casting is still done in Lenton.

Bit of an update, I've been keeping an eye on this thread and I think this is new info. Just called up to panic buy some Wave Serpents, and I was told this:

What the guy said to me was that basically they're going to need to remake lots of the moulds (maybe due to frequent miscasting/errors? anyone noticed an increase in it?) and so they are getting rid of all their stock before deciding whether or not to replace them.

To me that sounds like they're going to get rid of the lesser ordered stuff (random non-army list stuff like trojans/multiple obscure varients like heavy flamer chimeras/obscure infantry[tau/GK unfortunately I expect]) and then they might come back with a more focussed but smaller range.

If this means they'll keep making the majority of stuff/the essentials then that is better than an all out ending of the lines I think?

Please bear in mind this is all just a theory but seeing as I don't think anyone has heard that they are CANCELLING EPIC OH NOES WTF OMG!!1! (I think?) then we may end up with the main lines making it through this rocky period.

Of course E&C seems to have the best contacts so he can probably comment on this.

-Moronguhl

EDIT: E&C beat me to it even though I was typing a post at the time! You've got to get up early to get the better of him!

My impression is that they were going to cancel most of the line, but they've been a bit surprised by the upswelling of purchasing over the last few days and are reconsidering.

The way i see it, nothing's set in stone at this point.

I've reached out to Tony Cottrell himself but am yet to hear back from him.

A very likely assessment.  It'd be nice to think they've been swayed by the panic buying.

What do you reckon if I can pin you to an opinion?  Think they'll re-release a sort of 'Greatest Hits' range?

I have a ton of Epic stuff sitting around waiting to be painted and this really destroyed my motivation.

If Forgeworld bring back Squiggoths, Tau and/or Grey Knights I'm going to go on a painting/buying spree.

I see three options for them right now:

Worst case: They cancel the entire range anyway as too much hassle for too little return.

Median case: They re-release a 'greatest hits' range, pretty much all the most useful models will make the cut.

Best case: They re-release a 'greatest hits' range as above, but also experiment with releasing a few new models to guage whether the upswing in purchases over the last few days was a one-time thing, or part of a general desire for FW Epic models.

Roll a D3. :))

Regardless of the result for Epic, I think we're still likely to see a new Adeptus Titanicus game in a year's time

What makes me think this is all just a new GW ploy...

GW: "Abandon ship"
Us: "Panic buy!"

GW: "No, we'll keep it going..."

<6 months later>

GW: "Purge!"
Us: "Panic buy!"

GW: "He he. Suckers!"

And just like them constantly re-releasing Codecies, people will clue in and stop buying... in a couple of years...

Hi Parl. #Welcome to the jungle! /#

It is not usually as frantic as this.
