So we had a little 4-way titan and tank battle in the living room last night.  And of course questions came up... So TK weapons state that when they hit, there is no save, not even with Reinforced Armor.  It also states that you cannot take a cover save, but cover still provides penalties to hit.  There is the set up, here is the question: Eldar Holo-fields.  Holo-fields allow you to make a 3+ save instead of your normal save.  Do you see where I am going with this?  My interpretation is that Holo-fields are essentially a cover save (you are shooting at where you think the titan is, and not where the actual titan itself is.)  However, holo-fields are not explicitly denoted as a cover save, but as their own dynamic thing. So do TK weapons ignore the Holo-field save?  Do holo-fields provide a penalty to hit?  What is up with Holofields? Also, holo-fields and reinforced armor.  So if I fire at a Titan, with a regular AT or MW shot, the opponent fails his holo-field save, does he then make his regular AR save because of Reinforced Armor, or does he re-roll the holo-field save. Discuss and enlighten... |

The holofield rules explain reasonably clearly. The 3+ save is gained against every hit, whether AT, MW, Lance, TK, Ignore Cover, FF, CC, everything. The reinforced save is taken on the actual armour value, and only against hits that allow a reinforced save, i.e. not against MW, TK or Lance. So the eldar titans get a 3+ save against everything, and those with reinforced armour also get a 5+ save (the reinforced part) against AT/FF/CC (non MW/TK/Lance) hits. |

As Zombo says, the Holofield 3+ saves against the TK shot. However if that gets through, you then throw for the number of TK hits (damage) that are inflicted. This is the reverse of the usual process against shields where the number of TK hits from each shot are established, only the excess over the number of shields getting through to the Titan. |

Also realize that if you get a holofield protected target in a crossfire, they suffer the -1 to saves, even on the holofield! |
