Here's today's second n00b question: In a Guard infantry co, I know that Commanders are an additional stand (for a total of 13 stands), but are Commissars another additional stand (for a total of 14 stands) or are they characters added to the Commander stand (just 13 stamds)? Thanks in advance. |

As above; from a personal standpoint though i try to stick to rule 7 where possible ("don't take the piss!") and only place them in bog standard infantry stands where available; i/e stormtoopers or normal guards; no ogryn shields for example. Different case would be in a tank company or SHT's for example. |

Rough riding Commissars seem fine to me though Sentinel ones don't feel right. |

I guess this boils down to the number of commisars available and perhaps some priority for assigning them. Last IG opponent I faced got 10 to put into 11 formations; he only used 9 of them in the end as he felt that adding a commisar to one of his TBolt formations was really going too far In the end, adding one to his Death Strikes compounded by my failure to hit them sealed the fate of that particular battle |

Quote: (Rug @ 14 May 2009, 12:38 ) I always used to put a commissar in with my Ogryns in 40k so they could actually mount up in a Chimera! I don't see a problem. What do you think of rough rider commissars and sentinel driving commissars? A valid point on the ogryns actually ;-) Sentinels is going too far but if i've run out of places to put them i usually pop one in there anyway; ruoghriders is fine...ah the hypocrisy. I meant more, for example, placing them in chimera or such like, but in all fairness you can justify most commisar placements; if it's in a chimera it's obviously a command vehicle, a sentinel may be loaded with extra augur arrays and such; in short i'm really talking balls! Anywhere except a titan or plane is fine by me. |

Well according the the 2008 FAQ anything goes, personally I wouldn't put them in planes or titans, but I rarely roll high enough for this to be a problem |

I have a hard time seeing either Nauticus or Titanicus accepting an allied officer giving them orders. |

I consider putting Commissars in Titans poor form, and putting them in aircraft is pretty much useless. Anywhere else is fine by me. |

One could claim those Comissars actually represented a particularly Veteran Princeps or Pilot, though I wouldn't do it myself. Personally I wouldn't put any in Deathstrikes myself either. |

Jervis seems to disagree but what does he know  It honestly sounds a lot more like an oversight. Anyway, I could imagine a Titan Commissar like a counts-as Veteran Princeps or something. Couldn't possibly figure out where's the EACC coming from, though. Perhaps the Princeps shooting at enemies in base contact with his honorary pistol. edit: great minds, and so on. |
