Hi° I wanted to know if anyone recently ordered the SM boxed infantry. With the loads of tacticals and assault marines. Reason why i'm asking is because i got a Chaos box and the minis are really good, so i was wondering if the loyal SM are equally good. I mainly have the "old" SM models from E:40K and before, so i wondered if the "new" ones are better in any way. bg, |

The current SM plastic models are almost all identical to the E40k ones. The Chaos are of much higher quality because they're a brand new sprue rather than a recut one like the marines. |

The current plastic Space Marines are the same as their E40K equivalents, which are, if I remember rightly, mostly the SM2 era plastic Space Marine infantry. The moulds were re-cut so as to contain only the basic marine models (so no scouts, terminators, characters, etc.), but they're the same sculpts. The Chaos sprue is, I believe, the exact same sprue (from the same mould) that was released towards the end of the E40K era, and was made up of almost entirely new sculpts (The Chaos Lord is older, and I'm not sure about the beastmen, but the rest was new). Which goes some way towards explaining why the models are so very nice, and also so very large when compared with the significantly older Imperial Space Marines. |
