So... I got to wondering today: Do broken Air Transports get departure moves in the end-phase? I seem to recall that the units depart BEFORE rolling for rallying. But what happens if a broken aircraft leaves the table? And yes, it is possible to be a broken landed aircraft (Space Marine Landing Craft come to mind, if they lose an air-assault they don't die cus they're fearless, but they ARE broken. Likewise it's possible with Vampires, though rather rare). The rules don't say anything about this. Would the aircraft move off-board and count as having it's starting DC (Or ship-numbers in the case of a multi-unit formation) in blast markers? Would it be stuck on-table since it can't do anything as a broken war engine? Would something else happen? |

There are no restrictions on disengaging. The aircraft rules simply say they can choose to do so in the end phase - no qualifications. They can disengage. They would count as having BMs equal to their starting DC as normal for a WE when they took off, but once they were in the air could take additional BMs for coming under fire during the disengage move as normal. Similarly, a transport that took appropriate damage/BMs on the approach move could actually be broken when it landed. For example, an eldar player tries a last-minute objective grab with a Vampire Raider. On the approach move it takes flak fire and a point of damage. It now has 2 BMs - 1 for coming under fire and 1 for damage - and 2 DC. When it lands, it is immediately broken and cannot claim/contest the objective. |
