This may be a stupid question, but do war engine formations block LoS to other war engines inside the same formation? Normal units don't I know... I'm mostly asking because it pertains to the firing capacities of Knights, Warhounds can usually avoid blocking their own LoS but 6 Knights in a unit have real problems I've found avoiding accidently blocking eachother. Especially in assaults.

Yep.  They block.  Same for SHT companies.  With a well-placed assault you can effectively clip an SHT company using CC.

So, further on this concept, wouldn't this mean that if you 'hid' SHTs behind one another, you could force the enemy to either only shoot the front one or suffer a cover penalty to their shots (Since you're protected by something which blocks LoS)?

For example. I have three Shadowswords set up, I set them up like a triange. Put one in front and the other two behind it. Put the two behind it in base-to-base with eachother and the one infront. So that their side-walls are right up the middle of the front tank. Now each of those two in the rear has shielding from the one in the front. And attacking it from either side means that the enemy can only hit two of them (The one in the front and one on the side). Is this legal and possible to do? And does it work the way I think it does?

Yep, pretty much.

It's generally a bad idea, though.  Spreading shots out over several SHTs gives them all a chance to survive whereas concentrating them makes it likely one will die sooner.  That drops your firepower and unit count more than necessary.

If you were facing multiple TKd3 shots it might be a good idea because you might be able to "waste" some of the TK shots via allocation.  But it would be a pretty rare situation.
