Back in the ages of time, before the world moved on, when you killed a Titan or a large War Engine, all sorts of cool stuff used to happen, like massive explosions and the like. Am I wrong in thinking that Titans no longer explode when killed unless there is a critical hit with that result? |

Sadly, this is correct. A few people have voiced wants for something like the 'fall down' templates for Giants in Warhammer fantasy. Where when you kill a Titan or titan-sized creature it will fall in a random direction with a chance to squish things. But thus far those seem to be in the minority. |

I'd like to see fall-downs or the suchlike back in the game... Titans are dozens of meters high and when they fall over, they should land on things! This came up when I killed a Warlord in CC with some assault Marines with supporting fire from a platoon of Tactical Marines... Managed to do several structure points of damage, and then it died in the combat resolution phase (I rolled high, he rolled low). We looked at the dead titan and we were like... didn't these things used to explode or something? ![]() Has anyone tried making fall-down templates? Or explosion rules? Or both!? ![]() |

Ya... You'd think it'd blow up or something. Take a few of them with it. Sadly, it does not. I wish it did. it'd make my AMTL army all the more lethal! On a side note: You can't kill a Warlord during combat resolution, they're Fearless and thus immune to additional hits from losing a combat resolution roll. AND immune to dieing from being too close to the enemy while broken. |

I do nto mind the idea of "Fall Down" templates, just not random in their use. If we are going to say they are falling down, then the direction the bulk of the debree should reflect the strike that killed them. But I guess, the real support will come or not based on the rule as written. ![]() dafrca |

I'd love to see explosion rules, myself. When a Titan is destroyed then center a barrage on it, with a BP equal to it's starting damage capacity or something. Might make it too good, but it'd be really neat ![]() |

Really I think it's fine as it is. These things surely wouldn't all blow up; they'd more likely just have every working bit shot till it all moved no more. Think of them as walking battleships - they might blow up; they might not. Just as it is now. |

Hi! Thats one of the things of SM2 that was cool. When titans got destroyed it could be a blessing or a curse to the one who destroyed it. All sorts of things could happen. Primarch |

I love exploding criticals. It makes it so much more fun to bring the WEs (and to shoot at them). And it makes friend and foe alike give them a wide berth. ![]() It's one of my favorite things about the Necron list. "Oooh! This one explodes too!" ![]() |

All the colour and fun of Titans was drained out of them in EA. Its one of the big points that I dont like about the the rules. Big guys add colour but now they are monotone. And I think we can be realistic in our expectations that ATIII will never see the light of day to bring it back in either ![]() |

They can, yeah. But only by critical hit. And even then only if they roll a 6 at the end of the turn (I actually rather liked that bit). I'd say that Titans should only risk exploding if they actually get critted on... I like the idea that they could fall over on the enemy if they're close enough though. That'd be rather amusing ![]() |

I think this would be fun as a house rule but is not needed for the main game, just look at all the complaints the chaos list got when they had criticals that had a small chance of taking out nearby enemy with them when they critcalled . Just come up with extra rules for exploding titans and have the titan topple over in a random direction when it is finally destroyed, maybe every thing under the titan takes a TK or MW hit. |
