There's an idea i have been thinking about since i first read rastamann's epic campaign system post: there's a lot of people here who would like to play a campaign (or who are already playing one), but have so little free time that they can only play a few times in a month, so a very big campaign (like that of armaggedon) could last for years (even DECADES). Then i remembered the time in which games workshop launched the III armaggedon war campaign, with all that maps, and all that stuff about people sending the results of their battles in each area and the like, and i thought this: Why don't we play a massive-Epicomms campaign? ![]() What do you think? |

Actually, this might be a good idea. If we got organised, we could even have a board for each side, password protected, for campaign discussion. We could then have a time limit to play the battles, for example one month, and the side winning the most games in that month is deemed as winning that campaign battle. It needs more details, but it has potential. |

As long as you assume that the secrecy is fairly permeable. |

The key for all this is, as you have said, ORGANIZATION. So i propose that we begin by posting here who will be interested in playing such a campaign. Of course, me and two other friends of mine would be interested (if they weren't, i don't know how could i even play E:A, as they are the two only epic players in my city, besides me...) |

Oh yeah, and if you want to go truly over the top make BFG space battles possible in it (-> means I can participate ![]() |

I am not a huge fan of time limits: I rarely get to play ![]() A GW like campaign would be nice. I'd really like to see an Epic BFG crossover campaign with one or two scenarios or battlefields per month where the people can deliver their results. The fleets fight one turn ahead of the ground troops and their success has impact on the difficulty of the ground battle. Make it so that the fights are for one space system with several planets (dead moons, hive planets and so on) which all have their own special rules. |

I think the key is to keep it simple and I think thats where the sucess of say GW's Arm3 was all about. Someone whose handy with map and graphic making is needed to design the world, solar system or whatever. My suggestion is to take a leaf out of a recent Battlefront Flames of War campaign they ran on their site. Have nodes where each must fall before they can move on to the next and lodge results for that one. Avoid time limits and don't impose a final cut off date for results or the end of the campaign, we all know some time can accumilate between epic games. ![]() - Linking BFG would also be a plus. Give them their own nodes. ![]() - Seperate Campaign forums is a must. - I'd avoid appointing "Grand Overlords" for each side to make decisions. It can turn some people off from the campaign being bossed around. In a node campaign like I've outlined above, everyone needs to agree where to concentrate results and thats it. Less planning, more gaming! |

I'm with you in that we should make it as simple as possible, although i think we should give the campaign a time limit (although an enormous one, maybe a year?). The idea of merging it with a BFG campaign appeals me, but it would depend on how many BFG players would be interested. Maybe SOMEONE (subliminal message for blackhorizon ![]() Anyway, do any of you have any ideas about the background for a campaign game which would allow most of the 40k universe armies to figth in? should we cofine it to a continent, a planet, or an entire system? |

Let's make it simple and have a 12 month campaign covering whole systems where each month is dedicated to conquering one system and its planets. Group factions together and let the people submit their results. This way the people can switch armies like they feel without being stuck to one side. And they can play as often as they want. Each system should have a few planets with special rules for battles in Epic and BFG. Maybe add some custom events. BFG battles should cover the systems one month ahead of the Epic players and their performance could have influence on the ground battles. You could also introduce general performance rewards. But apart from Win-Loss ratios and numbers of games played I would stay away from too much planning and number-crunching. |

I really wish I had the time to do this since it sounds interesting. Also, it's hard enough to coordinate time for a one-off game with my usual opponent, never mind getting involved with a campaign. ![]() |
