I've intro'd many such people to Epic.

In some cases, their eyes are opened as they realise the shallowness of the "tactics" available in Apocalypse.

In the majority of cases, they simply don't see the point in playing a game that doesn't have the instant gratification of 40k/Apocalypse.

The difference between steak and a chocolate sundae. ;)

I dunno. Call me old fashioned but I reckon so long as people are having fun, it's a good game. I enjoy playing the occasional apocalypse game. In fact, that game looked like fun. I wouldn't play Apocalypse every week, but once a year is alright by me.

And as for GW "supporting" a game: I've never played more Epic than when GW stopped actively supporting it.

Just giving my 2¢.

Can I put the steak in a tortilla with some Guacamole? If so there is no contest, hands down Steak (Epic) all the way!

Epic is a steak burrito? I'd like to see you justify that metaphor, in some detail. It should be hilarious.

I don't know. Maybe it's because they were playing their favorite game with like-minded people in a once-in-a-year event... Apocalypse is a big chaotic affair where things explode.

Or maybe I'm wrong...

Apocalypse is fun in the same way that a giant game of Epic is fun. Being allowed to get out ALL your models and play them on the table is great, but is no way should it be approached with anything but a joyous insanity and disregard for the minutae of the rules.

They were...Really? Looked more like a bunch of people standing around the table looking at the mess, and maybe rolling a few dice to eliminate totally stationary targets. Because I could not determine any type of activity that I define as "playing a game". Looked like a Titan sized waste of time to me, but if that is what they call a fun game then the hobby has hit a new low IMO. :(

fun? hell no, if I wanted to do something special say once a year, I'd look at some kind of special scenario, have many games going on at once all working towards the same objective (as opposed to entirely standalone games, look at the bridge too far scenario... not for an average night at the games club but rather for an all day affair, with breaks for food inbetween and friendly banter!)

The one good thing apocalypse has given us is huge plastic kits, even then that's a bit of a two edged sword.. now every army (both 40k / whfb) is getting ridiculously sized models. So from a purely modelling / collecting perspective.. who wouldn't want to have a 40k scale baneblade or a warhound sat on their shelves? On the flip side... gaming with them? I'll pass and have epic back thank you :)

Agreed they do make really excellent standalone models. But, correct me if I am wrong is not the scale between the regualr 40k and Apoc not the same?

Yeah, I guess it's the end of the hobby... That's alright, we had some good years out of it. Thanks for nothing, Apocalypse.

I didn't say it was the end of the hobby. I said it has hit an all time low with uselessness of Apoc.

My point was that the quoted statement seemed to indicate that there was a difference in the scale of the models between Apoc and 40k.
