When we started, we used print outs (and they looked way worse :)), I glued them onto polysterine with PVC.

Its a great way of getting to know an army before you start splashing the cash buying models.
It also will save you from making my mistake (in spite of the polysterine...) of buying everything that looks cool on e-bay, just to discover its dreadful in the game (my lord of battle doubles as scenary),

One hint (if I may), do buy some bases - as in infantry bases. They are the biggest pain in the rear fo how the game works. Having the bases (even if you colour code paint them) makes working out assaults, range etc, so much easier.

good luck :)!

Thanks for the tip, Dan, I will have it in mind when start to buy models ;-). I usually buy minis that look cool too, even though they are not very useful in the game (happens me with almost every wargame I play! -_-U). But as I´m not a good player anyhow, at least I have a nice looking army! ;-)

Hi,

I´ve uploaded two armies in printing format (marines and Black legion). I will update when I have more of them packed into PDFs.

This is extremely cool. If you can find a permanent (unlikely to disappear) place to house them then I think we should link to them from the NetEA website.

Very nice!

Will be printing my own set after easter. If you need hosting, I have tons of space on my domain. But mega.nz have never deleted any of my files.

Hello.

Related to all of this, i have some bad and good news.

The bad is that i finally got to contact someone who knew Aapon after half a year of trying, and he told me that he never achieved his objective of getting his group on EA, so he left the pictures unfinished. Asked him to finish the factions that are almost complete, but it will take time. Real Life Tm is on him stealing it.

The good parts are several:
- He got some advertising from those pictures.
- He gave me the original files and he has more now than what he showed to us here. Still, not everything is complete, but very close, save for Imperial/Chaos Titans and Aircraft, and Eldar in general.
- I got the files, fixed and completed everything, updated stats, and changed everything to english. Changed the size of each token so they would be around the official miniatures. I am working on adding the squares for all the units he has not drawn to help him.
- Printed a full 15k points Tyranid army for me and a new player in the area, so both have enough to choose from no matter what we take, and tested them a bit. The stats are hard to see at less than 1m as the infantry is on 20x20mm squares but most of the time even the infantry can be distinguished from each other from the other side of the table, so it is a good for us using them, but maybe not so good for newbies.

There is another layer of pieces below that one so it is double of what you see. It is 3 A4 printed pages in total.

The results?

The cost has been almost 0 to me for that as i found lots of MDF for free and had the tools to cut it all into pieces. They are not miniatures but now i have a full force it would take hundreds of money and hours to get, even by going to 3d printing.

Also I am working on putting those in a .pdf, so all is needed is to print as they come and cut the pieces. The idea is to make the first three pages full of them for whoever wants to choose, or like me take the advantage that the cost is even lower than printing and faster to make, and have a full 10-15k points force (it is around 4-5k points per A4).
I am also using some example lists for each faction i prepared time ago for new EA players, and add them as tokens to the pdf, so all a newbie needs is to print the pages of the list he fancies more, cut the pieces, and has a force ready to play.
Finally I am making a second version of the .pdf with bigger squares so the stats are visible from everywhere at the table, with infantry at 30x30mm.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Aapon still not have the time so they are still unfinished.

On the other side my part is pretty much done, save for adding the squares for Eldar and Stigmatus, because i am waiting for him to do the basic drawings of the ''data'' they have.

Next will probably be to try to convince him again and prepare material to make his part faster and easier to do.

This is great work.

I already have some card terrain, so I could definitely see myself playing with these.

I had been looking at the Card Wars versions, which are about $4 an army to buy (you still have to print them)

The ones shown here look better though.

Good news. Aapon (the artist) is working again on this. The bad, he has the time because he did not get more painting work.

Look interesting and quite similar in style to those in Vassal.

Made my first sheet of proxy Tyranids

Image

-- Bought some 5mm foamboard
-- Printed the images onto some thin cardstock
-- Thin layer of glue onto the whole of one side of the foamboard
-- Put a weight on it and leave overnight
-- Cut longways with a metal ruler and a stanley knife with a fresh blade
-- Cut out the individual pieces freehand

Didn't get all the edges as good as I'd like, and a few I missed up completely, but I can just throw away the ones that go wrong. If I print more, I might adjust the sheets to have a bigger margin of error so I have room for mistakes, but that would probably make the sheets worse for someone who can cut accurately.
